Official NY Giants Draft thread

Post#1 » by KOA » Mon Apr 2, 2007 3:00 pm

The NFL draft is just weeks away and the giants have all their picks this year. They have so many holes to fill, so hopefully they trade down to get more picks.

The obvious needs are linebackers, offensive linemen, cornerbacks, a fast wide receiver with good size, and a speedy runningback.

Considering the amount of needs they have, it would be best for the giants to draft the BPA no matter what position (unless it's QB or TE, in which case they trade down).

SS Wilson
FS Demps
CB Madison
CB Webster
SLB Mitchell
MLB Pierce
WLB Wilkinson
DE Osi
DT Cofield
DT Robbins
DE Strahan

QB Manning
RB Jacobs
FB Finn
WR Burress
WR Toomer
TE Shockey
LT Diehl
LG Seubert
C O'Hara
RG Snee
RT McKenzie

K- ???
P- Feagles

I'd go BPA with the first round pick out of the following positions (LB, CB, LT)

Probably will fill the kicker slot through free agency. Linebacking core needs to be filled out with depth as Blackburn and Torbor are the only backups right now. Need a blocking TE and some depth along the offensive line. Hopefully Whimper steps up this year.

I think we should go with a Linebacker and that kid from Penn State seems to fit our needs...

I like him too (Poz), but Mel Kiper Jr. projected us picking him, so you know there's no way that happens.

Linebacker can always be filled later on in the draft. I say we jump on LT Joe Staley in the first then worry about linebacker and corner in the second.

I want either Paul Poslusnniksysksy(sp?) or a good cornerback in the first round. In the later rounds i think the giants will get a quick, shifty running back since Jacobs and Droughns are more power backs.

The Eli deal has really stuck a hard one up the poop chute... Most of these holes would have been filled witht he draft picks the team gave away. No to mention that Eli is arguably the third best QB taken in the first round. UGH

We should draft a good CB for our first pick.

Leon Hall will probably be taken before 20, but there are other good ones there.

I want a CB or LT.

CB:

Darrelle Revis (1st)
Leon Hall (1st)
Chris Houston (1st)
Josh Wilson (1st)
Eric Weddle (2nd)
Fred Bennet (2nd)

LT:

Levi Brown (1st)
Joe Staley (2nd)

Absolutely no chance Joe Thomas is still on the board so I'm not listing him.

Guys this draft is deep at corner and one will fall to us in the second round much like Webster. As servicable linebacker can be had in the third. The real need is protecting Eli's ass so getting a LT is the TOP priority. Grab Staley in the 1st and move Diehl bacl to guard and we will be okay. Trust me I can live with Torbor and Wilkinson along with Pierce at linebacker. Also cant forget the recent addition of Kawika Mitchell from K.C.

On the NFL Draft board, we held a three round mock and I had the Giants.

Here's who we ended up with:

Chris Houston-CB
Stewart Bradley-LB
Marvin White-S

What do you think?

Love the picks of Houston and Bradley. In my mock draft I actually have Hall and Bradley as the two selections but I will be very happy with Houston.

I hope the giants pick up Brian Leonard in the 2nd round. he is going to be a solid pro, the only reason his numbers went down his senior yea was due to ray rice. In the 1st round we need a linebacker
