With their top two free-agent targets wearing pricey franchise tags, the Giants are trying another route toward getting a top cornerback: A trade with the Falcons for two-time Pro Bowl cornerback DeAngelo Hall.
According to two people with knowledge of discussions between the teams, the Giants are willing to give Atlanta their first-round pick (31st overall) in April's draft in exchange for Hall. The people requested anonymity because of the private nature of the trade talks.

I like it. My only concern would be his attitude. He needs to check the ego at the door.

He's only 24, been to the pro bowl for 2 of the 4 seasons he's been in the league. This seems to be a no brainer.
I luv it. The 31st pick? That's all? Considering the gems we've found in later rounds & Kenny Phillips likely won't fall to us...get it done, Reese.

The Giants are reportedly prepared to send the No. 31 overall pick in the draft to the Falcons in exchange for CB DeAngelo Hall.
The Giants were reportedly hoping to woo Nnamdi Asomugha or Marcus Trufant, but both were franchised. GM Jerry Reese views Asante Samuel as a product of the Patriots' system. The rebuilding Falcons could probably ask the Giants to add a later-round pick to the deal and get it. Despite the Super Bowl win, Reese smartly recognizes the Giants' CB situation as a need area. He may have a big ego but he is better than what we have now at corner.

Anyone have any updates on this? BTW I would love this. He's younger then Ross and is a stud.

Last I heard the Giants were offering a 1st and 4th for him. However, this was just to drive up the price for the Redskins who seem to be the front runners. The Giants are supposedly scared off by Hall's contract demands. -Jitpal

I would love to get DeAngelo Hall however if his price is too high I would want to back off. Corey Webster did a good job, and he did not have it easy.
Joey Galloway - He may be old but he has speed and runs great routes, who has a good veteran mindset.
Terell Owens - Injured or not this is T.O.
Donald Driver - Very physical receiver with good hands and solid veteran.
Randy Moss- The best receiver in the game.
He did not shut them down but he got the job done. Corey Webster and Aaron Ross I can be confident on, and we can still keep Sam Madison and just use him on nickel coverage now, as he just does not have the wheels anymore to keep up with top receivers.
I would rather focus trying to retain Gibril Wilson who will be a big lost to the Giants if he goes. Plaxico is also looking for a new deal, and Most likely he will get it. DeAngelo Hall may be looking for a deal similair to what Champ Bailey and Nate Clements has, and with Trufant, and Asomangua getting franchise tags, who knows what DeAngelo Hall will be looking for.

Thank god DeAngelo Hall did not go to the Giants. 70 Million that is way overpaid, for a guy who gets burned by the NFL's top receivers each time he calls them out. Don't get me wrong better than any Cornerback in the Giants but not worth that type of money. Giants are better off keeping Plax, Osi, and Jacobs happy by giving them new deals.
