He's definitely a good replacement for Gibril and he is making less in his 3 year contract than Gibril is making in 1 year of his contract.

Last season Sammy started for a playoff team (Jacksonville) and in 16 games recorded 93 tackles, 11 pd, 4 int, and 1 ff. I still think he has a couple of years left in his tank.

Ahh, a good filler for the short term. Him and Gibril have similar stats so a good signing to say the least.

He can mentor Michael Johnson, who seems to have a high ceiling.

Sammy Knight is very consistent, always 90-100 tackles a season 2-3 int's. He was a formor Pro Bowler in 2001. Despite his age he can still contribute. Safeties usually last longer than Corner Backs.

Also, he has only missed 2 games in his entire NFL career, both in 1998. Out of 176 possible games, he has played in 174. That is pretty valueable.

I'll gladly let everybody else overspend in this crazy market, all we need to do is find these cheap, veteran signings that help the team (Mitchell last year, now Knight) and draft well. Thats the way to go and it worked last year. However, I can see us splurging on Hall...but if you are going to splurge, a 24 year old all-pro cornerback isn't a bad choice.

If the giants are going to spend money I would rather have it on a young player. Not like a 31 yeard old offensive lineman Alan Faneca.

A poster on another Giants forum made a great point about Reese interviewing CB Brian Kelly was just to make Hall lower his money demands.

Reese did the same thing last year when he brought in Simeon Rice for an interview when Strahan was holding out.

It sounds crazy but Reese would be the type of guy that'd do this.
