He had already made the roster, what he did tonight was take the third spot from Steve Smith.
Man, we destroyed the Browns tonight. The first team was absolutely on fire! We will have no problem with the starters this year.
Wright didn't look good, I think Carr pulled significantly ahead tonight. Ware looks to have made the team as well.
The bad news is London got hurt, he's having his shoulder X-rayed.

anderson was very scared by the giants defense and quinn's first snap was the biggest "no don't hurt me" throw.
but of course, the loss of strahan will hurt ... *tuck lawls*

Could you imagine if Strahan was still here? That'd be nuts! People act like him not being here makes us a terrible D. It knocks us down from an awe-strikingly good D to an elite excellent D. Not exactly a loss that will end our season before it starts like some clowns are thinking.

I don't think Hixon took anything away from Smith simply because of a good quarter. If anything Hixon took away the 4th spot from Moss/Tyree, one of whom is likely to be cut now. Hixon will still see time mainly on special teams with some situations at WR, but Smith is definitely the #3.
EDIT: As for Tuck and Strahan, Strahan did say that Tuck is actually more talented which isn't really surprising considering the age difference. Tuck did have more sacks last season, and did so in limited time while playing out of position. Now letting him run wild all season long, the possibilities are endless.

Where does Manningham fit into all this? We have too many injured receivers & too many receivers in general. We won't be able to hide any of the guys currently playing in preseason games on our practice squad, someone will pick them up. Its a good problem to have, I guess but it worries me a bit.
What is even more worrisome is our RB depth chart. Ware has been great for us but is he really better than Jacobs, Bradshaw or Ward? Sure, we could cut Ruben but I don't know if I like the idea of having only 1 brusing back to go with 3 finesse backs.

Good point, Manningham completely slipped my mind. Hate to say it, but we may see both Moss and Tyree cut. Moss just hasn't showed anything in all his time here even the few instances that he has been healthy. And if it comes down to Tyree vs Hixon, well one isn't playing at all and the other is playing really well and can impact the team on special teams with his returns. So I would expect Burress, Toomer, Smith, Manningham, and Hixon to be the WRs. Maybe Tyree as well if they can find a way to make room for him.
As for RB, I really have no problem with letting Droughns go. He is definitely a bruiser, but both Bradshaw and Ward have shown a pretty good ability to use their strength to get some extra push and yardage. Although they are more finesse backs, they do move defenders pretty well sometimes. Or we can let Ware walk and risk having another Ryan Grant situation as last year.

i say yhis is wat we do,
we have our top 2 veteran receivers, toomer and burres, then we also keep our young nucleus of smith, manningham, hixon. (maybe keep tyree or moss for security but otherwise cut every one else.
smith, manningham, hixon are our WR's for the future and we can keep developing them. that would leave us now with our top two and three other good young guys. this also allows one of the young guys, if they perform to perhaps take over the no. 2 spot from toomer. thoughts?????

Steve Smith doesn't have a great hold on the #3 WR. He had a pretty good playoff run, but that's pretty much all he's done. He was hurt almost all of last year and he's been hurt almost all of camp/preseason, and you know Coughlin doesn't show favoritism to injured players. Hixon on the other hand has had an outstanding camp and an outstanding preseason. I wouldn't be surprised to see him steal that #3 spot.

Even last year, Tuck was the better player.
