I don't even know if i'm going to go to the draft this year if this is true. Unless Reese is able to get another first.

I think its bullsh_t. off of the Giants message board at giants.com
Report: Giants, Browns Agree to Edwards Trade
8:05 Update - I finally got a reply from one of the beat writers (whose name I will not disclose until they OK me using it) and the news isn't appealing. They informed me that the ESPN report also claimed there is a 10:00 AM EST news conference tomorrow -- something the Giants don't typically do for trades. The quote I got was "It's BS as far as I know." However, by all accounts, the writer did confirm that this (apparently incorrect) report WAS made ... which has to make you wonder about ESPN and their radio affiliates.
7:57 Update - I've done as much digging as I can -- which included e-mails to every beat writer I know -- and don't really have an update. The fact that I haven't gotten a single reply from any beat writer (they are usually quick) could mean something ... but then again, it could mean nothing. They all have their own lives obviously, so they could just be busy. But to play Devil's Advocate, it seems somewhat odd to get no reply whatsoever. Perhaps they are all writing their own articles to confirm (or deny) this ESPN 950 report.

who cares if they give up a 1st ... they'll still have 4 draft picks in the first 100 selections.

How about using those picks to move up for one of the studs at wideout? As per Wiretap...
Rams Willing To Deal No. 2 Draft Pick
7th April, 2009 - 11:25 am
St. Louis Post-Dispatch - Rams general manager Billy Devaney says that the team is open to trading the second overall pick in this month's NFL Draft.
"Yeah, in the position we're in, we'll consider everything," Devaney said. "It's a little early. We kind of play with scenarios in our mind right now. But we haven't gotten down to the nitty-gritty, if you will, to say: 'OK, how far back would we trade?' "
I wouldn't trade a first for Edwards.

Salary cap. Plus, I wouldn't take a wide out at 2.

Latest on Edwards...
Sources: Giants expected to land Edwards
By Jason Cole, Yahoo! Sports 11 hours, 45 minutes ago
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards is expected to become a member of the New York Giants before the NFL draft on April 25-26, according to a pair of sources with knowledge of the negotiations.
“The Giants are going to have to up the offer a bit, but [the Browns] are willing to move him,” said one of two sources with knowledge of the talks between the teams.
... The Browns reportedly asked for a second- and fifth-round pick and receiver Steve Smith, but the Giants declined. New York countered by offering the two draft picks and receiver Domenik Hixon for Edwards.
Neither the Browns nor Giants could be reached for this story, but both sources said the gap will be bridged before the draft.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=jc-giantspursueedwards041409&prov=yhoo&type=lgnsWell, at least a first rounder isn't involved, which would have been ludicrous for me. I'm fine with a second, and another later round pick, plus another receiver. Less than two weeks to go before the draft...

with the draft... if we make a trade with the no1 one pick, i think at least one of robiske or britt will be there and i say we take one of them as our amani. if we dont make the trade draft a LB at 29 britt or robiske in rd 2 (both are as good as nfl ready gets britt - pro offence, robiske - dads a wr coach) and 2nd rd 2 pick we take the best player available or hopefull backup up OL probs OT.
Thoughts on this

Boldin will have a high price tag. Probably what Cleveland wanted 1st, Fifth and Steve Smith.

here we go with more rumors
another little interesting tidbit
rockythompson : 9:15 am
The rumor that Braylon Edwards is going to be a Giant is alive and still buzzing.
It comes from a Giant official that spoke with the Browns who called the NFL offices to get specific information about one of the conditions involved in the trade. I spoke with a person that works for the person that was called, so the information is twice removed, take it for what it's worth.
I don't have many specifics, what I know:
There are 3 draft picks involved and a performance clause. 80 catches for Edwards this season determines how high the draft pick(s) is/are but it is not clear whether or not all three drafts picks come from the Giants. No Giant players have been mentioned.
The deal was set to be announced tomorrow but the Giants are holding it up, reason unknown.
I asked if there was anyway my connection could go back to the boss and get me more info and was told that that's all the boss probably knows since he wasn't faxed a copy of the contract, he was only asked for facts and figures on one specific part of the deal. I'm told he's not very sociable and probably doesn't know what BBI is, in other words, I'm lucky I got what I got, shut up and get off the phone! I took the hint.
Certainly nothing concrete here but my source is reliable and called me, I'm confident there is a deal in place but without more specifics, I'll stay buried in this thread and fuel the speculation, if I get anything more, I'll try to get myself a sticky...
