What if? #6 pick

Post#1 » by theknicks414 » Sun Oct 5, 2008 11:25 pm

Disclaimer: This is not bash-Gholston thread. It is WAY too early to label him a bust already. Personally, I think he can become a great player like we all hoped he would be. He is a great athlete with good strength and speed. He has looked good in ST and will only get better at OLB with time and coaching. Who knows. Maybe VG comes out of the bye looking like John Abe.

But..

Say you could look back at the draft and re-do the #6 pick. Maybe the Pats traded up to 5 with the Chiefs and took Gholston. Who would you take with Gholston off the board?

Jonathan Stewart
DeSean Jackson (trade into the 15-20 range, pick up a 4th rd pick and draft Carl Nicks an OT that Callahan knows from Nebraska)
Jeff Otah

Stewart would be our RB of the future. The guy is a speedster with a thick frame (5'11" 235lbs 4.48 40)

Jackson would be a weapon in the slot with Favre.
Coles, Cotchery, Jackson, Keller, Baker are all good targets. btw, Stuckey looks promising

Otah is a beast and the Panthers are 4-1 with a great running game. He is a absolute mauler. We could move Woody to RG and start Otah with Moore as depth.

Leodis McKelvin or Glenn Dorsey. Getting Dorsey at the sixth pick would have been a steal, but lokoing at the prospects available and terms of defense McKelvin would have been the pick. I know we are playing the hindsight game a bit then that certainly changes the answer but to pick Stewart, Otah, Jackson at the sixth pick would have been insane.

Edit: Remember Abraham got off to a real slow start for us, he was usually nicked up and really turned it on after almost being traded to the Raiders, that would have been a mistake.
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.

Dorsey hands down. Trading for Jenkins to help him out and moving him to end, that would've been nice in the 3-4 with us having a 4-man rotation.

I'd trade down and take Chris Johnson. I wanted them to get him in the second, but obviously the Titans got to him first.
