Re: Jets Fans Mangold Signs Extension
First D'Brick and now Mangold, we secured the cornerstones of our offensive line for years to come. Add that Sanchez, Greene, Conner and our wideouts are all young and upcoming we are in excellent shape offensively.
As for Revis, I think we will eventually sign him and everything will be forgotten. He is one of the best defensive players in the game and he's crucial to our defensive scheme.

Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies...

Ryan and the coaches forced Rob Turner to get Gholston into a fight. VG threw Turner to the ground and everybody was happy.
They had a short part about Jenkins and Mangold going up against each other and how they really have competitive battles. On one play Mangold completely washed Jenks out of the play and threw him to the ground (even though Jenks kinda stumbled over another player). Nonetheless, it was an incredible play considering the force of nature that Jenkins is...

Hopefully this is a sign they will be able to sign Revis next. On paper Jets look awfully tough. I'm still a little worried about Schottenheimer at OC and Revis not being there but otherwise Jets look really tough...

I don't think the Jets will go that far. One game is enough. The Jets need to pay Revis. That man brings it everyday on sunday and twice on monday.[/quote]
Again a limit on what they can pay him with out a guarantee, 30 percent raise period. He wants more the Jets can not do that in an uncapped year. If they go over 30 percent then it become guaranteed money and who is going to give 100 million away without an incentive based contract? That is the sticking point lets say he wants 16 million per year he already voided the last year which would have paid him 20 million. They can not give him that 16 million because it goes over the 30 percent raise rule in an uncapped year. So they can give him a 30 percent raise if he made 3 million they can give him another million give or take . The rest is guaranteed money 13 million a year for the rest of the contract, The Jets want incentives included and he does not want those he wants his money. I agree he deserves to be the highest paid guy since he is the best player but if it a 10 yr deal he walks away with 130 million for doing squat and if he does not perform your on the hook blowing your cap out of the water.

I was just listening to Joe Beningno interview the Jets beat writer from Newsday (Glauber?) and the rumor is that Revis may sign sometime before Saturday. Don't know how much, if any, truth there is to this, but that's what I heard.

top 5 player in the NFL should be paid like a top 5 player. He is the only player since Moss in his prime that isn't a QB and has that huge of an impact on the game. Top cover guy in the league, one of the best against the run. He deserves to be paid more than everyone in the league as of right now. Then Brady and Manning can use his contract as a bargaining tool for their new contracts.

While most fans would agree with you what do ABOUT HIM BEING CONTRACT AND BY LEAGUE RULES ONLY ELIGIBLE FOR A 30% RAISE? Just asking. This is not all on the front office or on Revis a large part of this is being an uncapped year and they need to work out the guaranteed bonus and the incentives portions of the contract.
Supposedly they were 40 million off they will get this straight sooner or later. Hopefully sooner.

Re: Jets Fans Mangold Signs Extension
a couple of questions and things ive read regarding Darrelle Revis..For me he is the best Lock down CB IN THE LEAGUE.....He is what allows Rex Ryan to do what he does in blitzing and scheming...I saw some people wanted to trade revis and i laughed, is it his contract year no but has he outplayed his contract?? id say so, the kid deserves a new contract and im hoping the jets realize this guy is so important to our team and we need to get him locked up...

Re: Jets Fans Mangold Signs Extension
Damn those Jets, Mangold was the one Jet that I wanted to see hit FA more than any other as a Giants fan, Diehl-Mangold-Snee would be so dominant. With Mangold and Brick locked up, Revis looking for massive money and one of Holmes or Edwards to re-sign I'm not sure the Jets can afford to commit that much money to Harris with the CBA still up in the air. I'm a big fan of Harris' but being an ILB on a team that already has big money tied to Bart Scott I think it's quite possible to see the Jets letting Harris go unless he's willing to take a discount.

Do you people honestly think the Jets don't know he deserves a new contract? The guy turned down $120 mil over 10 years wants $160 mil over 10 years. Anyone on his side of the argument is a moron.

That's ridiculous, I love Revis and think he's the only corner who legitimately is as good as Aso, no offense to Charles Woodson who's also a great player, but no, he's not a top 5 player in this league. He's not even the most impactful defender in the league, I'll take Haloti Ngata, Demarcus Ware, Jared Allen and a number of other defensive lineman/pass rushers over Revis any day, same holds true for Aso, even though I would take Revis or Aso over any none DL defender.

They weren't fighting they were just going hard in practice against each other. I've never seen Jenkins manhandled the way he was with Mangold. It's awesome that the only center who can contain our NT is on our team
