There were other WR still left on the board who were projected to be drafted, but apparently, he's good friends with Sanchez.

Not a fan of any of the Day 3 picks...at all tbh.

I'm not going to argue. The only one I can see making an impact right away is Kerley, and that's if we don't bring back Brad Smith. McElroy will be a back-up QB, Powell will be stuffed behind three other RBs, and McKnight was probably drafted as a favor to Sanchez.

I would've loved some depth at both safety positions and a pass rusher or even more line depth.

Yep. Kerley seems like the only one of the group that has a shot of doing anything anytime soon but even then they should have gone with a guy that was a bigger target for Sanchez in the redzone (Tolliver or Adams). That McKnight pick was just stupid. If they wanted to do Sanchez a good just freaking invite the bugger to training camp and slap him at the end of the training squad. He's not able to play in the NFL and wasting a draft pick in any round is just plain silly.

I think the excuse will be not being able to talk to any of the undrafted FAs until the lockout is over, which of course is still a BS reason to pick him.

If the Jets bring back both Holmes AND Edwards, I could see the reason for us drafting strictly slot and kick returner.

Yeah. I would be surprised though if the Jets did bring back both guys. Holmes, yeah. But Edwards really hasn't worked out and I would think the highest priority signings are David Harris, Santonio Holmes, Antonio Cromartie and Brad Smith. Won't be much money left for Edwards unless he wants to take a pay cut.

Actually the writing is on the wall for Brad Smith. Its a shame too, that guy came up with some huge plays last year. I would've liked to see them groom him as the backup QB, but they never really gave him a shot. Now that we drafted McElroy and Kerley I think he's gone.

Anyway, I'm hoping this McKnight pick pans out. Most 7th rounders dont make it anyway, but I like what I'm reading about him and he isn't exactly a slouch. After all he did break a few records in Colorado.

Meh...there was better talent that filled bigger needs on the board. If he and Sanchez were really close friends, he probably would've accepted a Jets invite more than any other team when the lockout ends unlike some other undrafted free agents.
