This is a terrible post. Idizk has handled the idiotic NY media masterfully today as he's making the rounds. That's probably why Francessa doesn't like him. Too bad Francessa is a no talent hack. And as far as his GMing goes, he had a great draft and he clearly understands what it takes to rebuild. It's not his fault a handful of fickle fans are already calling for his head. Those are the fans that give Jets fans the reputation we get. The idiots.

As I suspected. Ended the Tebow circus and had a great draft.

Pretty much my feelings, more than i expected actually.

Now if he could somehow make Sanchez disappear, i'd be ecstatic.

Listened to the whole thing live chief as well as his Mike and Mike interview this AM and his Mike Lupica interview this afternoon. If you think Idzik is an idiot then you are either Mike Francessa or one of the dumb Jet fans I referenced in the post you quoted.

Idzik does not give 1.5 craps about Sanchez or any other "reliable" parts of the team. He seems like he is building what he wants and will take players based on value. Sanchez will be holding a clip board by November and will be cut next season. Rex will be fired and the O coordinator will be promoted.

Why are you assuming Rex will be fired? He and Idzik seem to have a great relationship. And promoting Marty to HC would be a gigantic mess. I don't think you thought this one out too well.

Other than that, I agree.

I could see Rex gone unless the Jets make the post season which is a long shot. Idzik's draft made me immediately think he'll look for a 4-3 coach next year and go for playmakers in that one (when he can also release Sanchez in a more painless manner).

I didn't hear the Francessa interview but I heard his interview on Mike and Mike and thought he did a good job explaining himself. I especially liked when he said "as long I'm here, no one's spot is guaranteed" which is a mind set he really needs to slam home to this roster. I also think he had a very good draft. He got great value with his first three picks, reloaded the O-line with late picks and turned a fourth rounder into a running back with real potential to be something (potentially upgraded the position for cheap even). I'm not completely in love with all of his moves (would have rathered Warmack in the first than Richardson) but I can see the logic behind every one of them. Even the Geno Smith move which was a great value at 39 and could afford him development time from the sidelines at least short term.

you're better off listening to Nicki Minaj discuss NFL football than Mike Fatcesa.

To add onto that Idzik did indicate that there is a team goal of improvement in "all areas". He basically said there is criteria that can get Rex fired. A GM is not going to go on the radio and say to anyone "yea, Rex is a lame duck, but it's cheaper than firing him." No, he has to publicly back the people on pay roll. Idzik has to be judged by HIS choices. If HE chose an O coordinator and a QB you'd have to think those two guys are in his long term vision. He says Rex was involved in the picks. I do not doubt that. What I do doubt is the weight it has on keeping Rex's job going forward.

If you inherit a team with Mike D'Antoni as your head coach, and your first move is to amnesty your starting point guard to sign a defensive center and your second move is to hire a defensive minded head coach to be your "defense coach" what do YOU think happens next?

Saw the movie once, at least I am content with the ending

Fatcesca is an idiot. Idzik has made all the right moves. Fatcesca is just butthurt about the giants failing last year, so he focuses on hating the Jets. People blame Rex Ryan when he's had a winning record since arriving and already delivered 2 deep playoff runs. The Jets aren't as far off as people believe. Fatcesca is a blow hard sensationalist. Nothing more, nothing less. We're talking about the guy that fell asleep on his own show during an interview.

What Francesa doesn't seem to grasp is the fact Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez are basically dead men walking. I don't know anyone who hires a GM but keeps the coach and QB after a HORRIBLE season last year. What this is, gives GM Idizk time to come up with a game plan.

We were linked to Sanchez by the stupid contract that Tannebaum gave him. He was guaranteed 8 mil this year even if cut. I disagree about Rex. It wasn't his fault that all our of key players got injured and the offense sucked with Sparano. You don't fire a head coach after 1 losing season. Rex overall has a winning record with the team and has delivered us more post season wins than any other Jets coach. Don't be fooled by what the ridiculous media has concluded. They are at war with the Jets and won't lay off. They are going to be very mad when the Jet perform way better than they are all predicting. #2 passing offense in the preseason compared with dead last, last preseason and people think the team is so much worse than last year, which was a disaster with injuries and WR depth.
