What position in the first?

What do you think is a big enough need for us that we should be looking to take someone in that position with our first choice? Or what position do you think doesn't have enough depth for us to be able to acquire a decent player in later rounds? Should be just take the best player available at the time?

I'd like to see us solidify the line by taking a guard or a tackle, but I think everyone around at that time (Blalock? Staley?) would be a bit too much of a reach with our pick. I used to really want us to get Adam Carriker, but there's almost no way he drops to our pick now.

Unlike last year, when we had so many needs we were trying to fill with the draft, I think we're in a good position to just take the BPA this year, whomever that may be.

Hobson and Thomas improved all last year, both really having career years, so they're not horrible options at OLB. We've signed something like 4 DE's in free agency (Kenyon Coleman being the only one I can really imagine starting for us), and our CBs are serviceable. Plus, Mangini was a DB coach for the patriots, so I'd expect him to just try and get the most out of late round guys and guys already on the roster like Justin Miller as well as Drew Coleman.

Leon Hall and Darelle Revis will probably be off the board by the time our first pick comes up. I think Aaron Ross is the only other corner worthy of a first rounder by us. Revis or bust imo.

I would have no problem in getting either Blalock or Staley at all. They may not be the sexy pick but with an offensive line built around one of them and Brick and Mangold is a bright future for us. Carriker at this point no way he drops like you said. He was a workout wonder with no question marks.

CB, OL, DE/LB? That for the most part is our only needs. We signed Coleman, Bowens, Wadsworth and Haynes so im not even sure how much we even need a DE. Id have no problem with Woodley, Moses or Francis though. DT is another one if McBean or Tyler are there.

Pretty much spot on we are in position to get something we need, we have no glaring holes just a few spots we want to upgrade. I still think we need that CB, after that I trust there decisions. They proved last year they knew what there doing.

I'm not sold on Carriker....

Last year we got two instant-impact players but it was a wierd situation, normally no one would ever anoint two first-round pick offensive lineman (in the same draft no less) as impact players, but they damn sure were...

This year, I say, impact player all the way, whatever the position, best available that we could use.....And especially draft every available Penn State player....

I think your selling Cedric Houston short Manhattan Project. He shined at the combines and put up nice numbers at Arkansas. Hes probably the 2nd-3rd best CB in this draft.

I wouldent mind a WR falling to us as theres a good chance that could happen....

BTW, it's Chris Houston, and a WR is not our main priority, it would be better if we take a WR in the second or third. I would love to get Houston with our pick, but I'd rather prefer either Revis, Hall(it'll never happen) or Ross.

But then again since McCauley's stock is dropping, I'd like to see us pick him up in the second round while taking Blalock in the first.

It really comes down to what type of CB you want personally. When looking at Houston I scratch my head a little. Some people compare him to DeAngelo Hall with his speed, and yet some people see him for the CB that shut Jarrett down. Then again Sidney Rice schooled him.

I wouldnt mind him at all, but its no secret Revis is the CB I want.

Given our lack of draft picks (only 6 at the moment I believe, as opposed to 10 last year), it doesn't seem like we're in a great position to do so.

It was surprising to see the Jets throw caution to the wind and swap 4 lower picks for 2 higher ones.
