I think he's a bust especially considering what they did to get him. When the Jets traded up to get him, they traded two other firsts to get him to the Bears. This guy has been a horrible fit for this defense and I don't think it will get better. A lot of teams now don't even double team the guy on their running plays. The Giants had 135 yards and he had only two tackles. Shameful. He finished with 57 tackles and 4 sacks, which is good for a 3-4 NT, but definitely not worth the $12 cap charge this upcoming season. There are three options now. One, he re-structures his deal. Two, they trade him, but how many teams will want him with that deal. And the final one, just cut him. The Jets are lacking in to many departments for this guy to be around next season. I say look around the market see if you can get a pick for him (probably a late one), and if nothing just cut him. Some teams that might be interested are: Cincy, Denver, Tennesse (Haynesworth is a FA), Wash, KC, Oakland, Miami, New Orleans, Tampa. Out of those teams, a deal has got to be made. Right?

I'm thinking re-structure his deal and play him at end. If he plays well, he can eventually replace Ellis.

I would say he is a bit short for that. Overall he is just a terrible fit for a 3-4 front three since his biggest strength is to shoot gaps, penetrate and get to the QB. We don't need that from our DE and DT, we need guys who are stout against the run and let our LBs make plays.

I still think at end, it'll be less pressure for him to make a play as he doesn't have to face the center and the 2 guards most often. He'd usually have to take the tackle and once in while the guards if the LBs blitz, which I'd prefer him to go up against, but then again, it's only an experiment, if it doesn't work, then try cut a deal.

He didn't face usually more than one guy. He was never doubled.

^Ever? Our line was so bad that they had 2 spare guys to block anyone, and most of the time Robertson gets past the first blocker but then gets stopped by a second blocker, whether it be a G, a C or even a RB.

I've looked it over. Was doubled maybe, and i mean maybe five times a game, and no more.

In the 4-3 he was actually a force, I mean he really was. He was improving in every game and then the 3-4 just killed him. Im sure there would be teams interested in him if we were to look to move him but we wouldnt be able because of the cap hit. I like him, but in this 3-4 he is next to useless.

From what I remember he was doubled almost every play and when he wasn't he completely bowled over the single lineman.

Of course I may be biased since he's my neighbor lol. He's a really nice guy

He was a pass rushing DT in college. Pass Rushing DT don't do well in 3-4, 3-4 DT just basically are there to take up lineman for the Linebackers so they can do all the work.
You should trade him to a 4-3 team and watch him explode, I know the Giants would love him

I agree, but it doesn't look like Mangini is changing to the 4-3.

Mangini would never change to a 4-3. This is probably one of the reason why I didn't want him to be HC a couple of year ago.

I'd love to trade him because he's such a good player on a horrible system. He doesn't deserve to be playing this horrid.
