OT: Axe Mangini? Should the Jets GM get the axe?

Jets fans are calling for Mangini's head. But, look at this seasons. Odds are that the Jets being out of the playoffs will drive to cause Farve to finally retire. Considering the acquiring of Farve resulted in Pennington being let go, it means that the Jets will have no QB they can count on. Chad has shown he can still manage games. So, lay the blowing up the QB spot the fault of the GM.

So, if you argue that Mangini should be let go, how about the Jets GM also get the axe?

If Mangini comes back, it can only be contingent on firing both his coordinators.

As for Tannenbaum...he's been a bit aggressive for my taste. He's forever trading up, and giving up picks. Not my style at all.

I like that kid Brett ratliff at QB , give him a shot. I hope favre retires and we need to fire both coordinators... Watching miami win the division sucks, but they will lose to the ravens. Miami is a gimmick team, had brett not been a int. magnet today, we would have won this... I am glad the pats don't get in tho..

Back to the jets, we need a play making WR.. get rid of coles and his bad hands and big attitude... we need to find out what to do with gholston and get mangini coordinators who really have a grasp ona system.... sort of like what mike westhoff is for our special teams...

I agree TKF about Ratliff. He showed me something in the preseason - although I assume if Favre doesn't come back, they'll sign a veteran to compete with Clemens and Ratliff next season.

I agree. I can see a vet like jeff garcia being available. I mean they dogged him out this year in tampa. He started basically because of injury to griese, although garcia was the better QB..

We also need a top flight receiver. I like cotchery, but coles rubbed me the wrong way this year...

Boldin would be a nice fit... we need another Playmaker besides leon washington...

I don't see the point in firing the coordinators and keeping The Genius. So I'm in the camp of cleaning house. I guess our coaching staff wasn't smart enough to know how to use Chad correctly. Time for Mangini to go.

But I agree with you on Tannenbaum. He should go too. I was against getting Farve. I know I was in the vast minority.

F Mangina even when the Jets were winning his calls were very questionable. I was even telling people when we were 8-3 that we wouldn't get too far in the playoffs because our coaching would be exposed and we didn't even make it that far. We need to make a strong push for Cowher and I'm torn on Favre right now, it is probably best to face the inevitable and look for our next QB.

Wheres all the Jets fan who at the beginning of the year , waere saying they were better than GIants and the Giants were a fluke....
And Brett Favre owns Eli.....

Thats what yall get for signing all these aging vets to try and be like the Giants. Build through the draft, not free agency. Calvin Pace, bust. Faneca, bust ( for the money he was paid ). Favre, a bust. Jenkins, good. But you still have no QB to build around next year, your back at square 1.

Tanny should stay at least one more year. This 9-7 team has 7 Pro Bowlers and Tanny needs to get some credit for that. The only thing I don't like about him is that it seems like he is too close to Mangini and will probably fight to keep him around this week. Listening to Woody Johnson in the post game, I think its gonna take a lot to convince him not only to keep Mangini but to extend him.

As for the whole Brett thing, he was brought in to sell tickets/PSLs. That, and the Jets figured that Chad would never take them to a Superbowl and I have to agree with that. Brett was to be a 1-2 year bridge until they figured out the future QB situation. They are not high on Clemens anymore, and I agree that Ratliff looks like he could be a good one. This will be an interesting offseason.

Funny you should mention that... Apparently Tuna has an opt out clause if the team is sold, but I don't see him leaving Miami after 1 year.

For sure, we are a team of smoke and mirrors, but we've executed those plays to perfection more times than not resulting in 11 wins. It's going to catch up to us and it has, but somehow we've adjusted and found other ways to win.

Baltimore already gave us all we could handle and then some in an earlier season loss to them, but let's see how Miami's coaches adjust and what they run differently this time around.

Either way, as far as the NYJ are concerned, it's not necessarily the coach's fault if he doesn't have the proper pieces in place, but then again maybe it is, because if you've been playing like the best team in the AFC for a good 4-5 weeks, but then falter to close the season, you had the pieces but you didn't have the leadership when your team needed it the most, but that should come from your QB, too.....

How about Matt Cassel I believe he's a free agent after this season and I doubt he resigns with the Pats to be a back up for Brady again

Pats have a huge decision to make this offseason. Brady's well behind schedule in his rehab and may need to surgically remove scar tissue on his knee, which in return may make him miss another season. Do the Pats waste a year not knowing if Brady will return 100% or re-sign Cassell and put the team in his hands?

I think Bel will have New England give him a nice deal just to have him stay.
