My Early Mock Offseason

Post#1 » by Manhattan Project » Wed Jan 14, 2009 2:22 am

Coaching:

Head Coach: Rex Ryan
Offensive Coordinator: Brian Schottenheimer
Defensive Coordinator: Mike Pettine

The Ryan and Pettine are a popular combo, nothing changes here. However I think with the rumors of Schott being a HC candidate we wont be getting rid of him, thus I keep him.

Our Players:

Retirement:
Brett Favre
Tony Richardson (Just dont see him coming back)

Re-Sign
C.J. Mosely
Marques Murall
Brett Ratliff
David Clowney
Ahmad Carroll
Cody Spencer
Wallace Wright

Let Go
Jesse Chatman
Bubba Franks
Mike Nugent
Eric Barton

Cuts
TE Chris Baker
LB David Bowens
CB David Barrett
P Reggie Hodges

Free Agency:

Heath Evans- 2 Year, 3.5 Million.
Bryant McFadden- 4 Years, 16 Million.
Chris Simms- 1 Year, 1.5 Million.

Nothing to splashy as the Jets ownership will probably say win with what you have.

Draft:
17- Brandon Spikes
53- Derek Pegues
76- Dorell Scott
111- Ramses Barden
115- Graham Gano
116- Jasper Brinkley (Trade 5th Rounder, 7th Rounder)
177- Jahi Word-Daniels

In this draft we get our starting ILB in Spikes, starting safety in Pegues. Depth at DE/DT in Scott. We get all world P/K Gano, interesting talent Barden and the even more intriguing Brinkley. Daniles is a solid CB, not looking more then a nickel corner back.
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.
C- Maluach l Jackson l Hayes
PF- Okongwu l Newell l Salaun
SF- Wiggins l Bryant l McNeeley
SG- Thomas l Wallace l Nembhard
PG- Murray l Collier l Dillingham

I've got a question. Do we still play the 3-4 or go 4-3? Kris Jenkins excelled in our defense, but our secondary was surprisingly having problems in the 3-4, not to mention we would have troubles stopping the run at times.

If we do get Ryan, I think we will run a bit of everything. Mostly a 3-4 hybrid with at times going to the 46 defense. I dont think we will be going to the 4-3 for a long time.
