Report: Favre Will Retire
11th February, 2009 - 10:50 am
ESPN - Brett Favre has reportedly told the Jets that he will retire after spending just one season with the team.

Favre had instructed his agent, James Cook, to inform the team on Wednesday that the quarterback is retiring. Two team sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen that the call had been made.

"[GM] Mike [Tannenbaum] and [owner] Woody [Johnson], as well as the entire organization, have been nothing short of outstanding," Favre said in an e-mail to ESPN. "My teammates -- Thomas and Kerry included -- were a pleasure to play with. Eric [Mangini] could not have been any better. I enjoyed playing for him. My time with the Jets was short, but I'm honored to be given that chance." [READ]

However we all know that this is not certain, but it does seem like its going to happen. He frees up 13 million in cap, brings us under the cap in position to fill some holes. However I credit the Jets for having the balls and making a play for him.

None of them should be our starter, I say we go after Warner for one year and draft Sanchez.
