Mock Draft

Post#1 » by theknicks414 » Wed Apr 15, 2009 7:34 am

I'm bored.

[1]17 - Brandon Pettigrew TE
[2]52 - Jarron Gilbert DE (if he's gone Ziggy Hood or Fili Moala)
[3]76 - Juaquin Iglesias WR
[4]115 - Sherrod Martin CB
[6]193 - Patrick Turner WR
[7]228 - Jaison Williams WR

I like Pettigrew because he really helps execute what Rex wants to do. Smashmouth running games require jumbo sets that call for good blocking TEs. I can imagine a formation with Pettigrew and Wayne Hunter as the TE's with T-Rich blocking for Thomas Jones, straight pounding the ball. He is also a very sure-handed receiver which is a gift for any QB.

It looks like there will be good DL depth and WR depth in round 2. If Gilbert is on the board when we pick he will be a Jet. Sherrod Martin can contribute on STs and could develop into a solid nickel. Turner and Williams are two huge targets that are worth taking flyers on in the late rounds.

Starting Offense
QB: Clemens
RB: TJ and Leon
FB: Tony Richardson
starting WRs: Cotchery, Iglesias, Stuckey
depth WRs: Clowney, Brad Smith, Turner
Oline: DBrick Faneca Mangold Moore Woody
TE: Pettigrew + UDFA + vet min FA
H-Back: Keller
looks like a slightly above-average offense to me. the goal is to shut down other teams offense's while wearing out their defense.

defense depth chart:
DE: Coleman / Douglas / Jenkins
DE: Ellis / Douglas / Jenkins
DT: Jenkins / Green / Pouha
ROLB: Pace / Thomas / murrell
ILB: Scott / Harris / Trusnik / Izzo
LOLB: Gholston / Thomas/ murrell
CB: revis, lito, lowery, strickland, carroll
S: rhodes, leonhard, elam
