Kind of concerned about Sanchez's arm strength

Post#1 » by BRIGGS » Thu Oct 22, 2009 2:47 am

in cold/foul weather. His accuracy has gone south as the weather has become worse.

Right now I'm nervous every time he drops back. I'm not going to go overboard because this is his 5th game/rookie QB and youngest player in the game BUT I would like to see radical improvement quickly. He has lost two games for us[or should I say he was the main reason we lost 2 games] You just wish he ended up with 4 INT and a W last week--I mean just one pulled back. He has to be able to prove he can play in bad weather and that cant be an excuse. It's upsetting because the guy was playing well and then just hit the wall.
You think we really have something--and we may have--but he's back a few pegs and needs to climb up that hill again without falling further down it.

As a caveat--Id rather see Ainge than Clemmens if it came down to a change.

He's a rookie, rinse wash and say it again, remember the way Giants fans treated Eli his first COUPLE OF YEARS. This is going to take patience, but he has already shown flashes of how good he can be...I think we need to take the shackles off though, he seems better when he's getting into a rhythm. Honestly, I think Schottenheimer (sp??) is stunting his growth and hurting his confidence.

Sanchise (lol) is sooooo nothing like Eli.

Sorry guys but this was a bad pick IF you are going to make him your starter/savior. He had back-up QB written all over him in college and frankly it's shocking he was drafted as high as he was even in such a QB poor draft.

I'm a Lions fan so I don't have room to crack on football teams but Stafford is going to be 10 times the QB Sanchise will be. Stafford has a rocket arm and Sanchise simply does not have an NFL arm. Mark makes Chad Pennington look like Dan Marino.

Add a loud mouth arrogant head coach, lots of hype and Sanchise might Ryan Leaf you guys.

This portion of your post means you have zero credibility...I'll just leave it at that.

I might not have any credibility because I'm a Lions fan but I did see Sanchise have to throw the ball like a balloon when he was throwing a hail mary at the end of the Dolphins game. You don't need much credibility or even football IQ to recognize a moon ball like that.

The kid has no arm strength period. If you think otherwise then you are wrong.

If your argument is that you don't need arm strength to get it done then that is fine. It's just you need the IQ and surrounding players like Joe Montana had when he was playing for the 49ers.

Stafford is to Sanchise as Manning is to Leaf (I hope  )

Because the 65 yard Hail Mary throw determines a QB's potential  ...This is just (Please Use More Appropriate Word). Have you seen the zip on his short passes or the accuracy on his deep throws to Braylon? That's where arm strength matters. Do you realize that Sanchez has had late game drives to give the team leads in multiple games only to watch the defense cough it up or penalties cost the squad (Buffalo, Miami, Jacksonville)? The kid is having rookie woes that just about every rookie faces except for the minority (look in ATL where a rookie prodigy is suddenly having growing pains). To write him off this early especially because of a hail mary is plain DUMB. To trash him because your team picked Stafford and you need something to hang your hat on since your franchise is coming off the single most pathetic season in football history is just sad. It has nothing to do with you being a Lions fan, we're Jets fans and our franchise has been cursed for the longest, but the nature of your response was to bring in a Stafford comparison where there was never one to begin with. Cut it out.
