Off-Season Thread (All Oakland Raiders)
Chris Townsend of 95.7 The Game in San Francisco reports the Raiders have fired DC Chuck Bresnahan and three defensive assistants.
Bresnahan was an Al Davis hire, and coach Hue Jackson made it clear on Monday that a split was coming. Bresnahan's defense set franchise-worst records for TD passes allowed (31), yards per carry (5.1), yards passing (4,262) and total yards (6,201) while the 433 points allowed were the second-most in Raiders history. Apparently we've hired Reggie Mckenzie to be our GM. How much did he have to do with the Packers
success?

He deserves a great deal of credit for the the Packers success.
I heard on ESPN this morning that he may get rid of Hue Jackson. Do you support that? I would like to see him stay.

I think Hue deserves 1 more year at least IMO. Not making excuses but we did have a lot of injuries.
The Defense has to get better overall, especially the rushing defense.

Re: Off-Season Thread (All Oakland Raiders)
New Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie suggested Carson Palmer will have competition for the starting job in 2012.
"Palmer will not be immune to a good player ... pushing him," said McKenzie. Former coach Hue Jackson paid the franchise QB price of a first- and second-rounder to acquire Palmer, but the new front office isn't going to treat him as such going forward. Even if the Raiders bring in a capable veteran, Palmer remains the heavy favorite to start in 2012.

Coaches......
Winston Moss says he has not been contacted by the Oakland Raiders about their coaching vacancy.
Moss said Monday that if the Raiders call, he'll be ready to talk to them. There was a report last week that Moss was being considered by new Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie, a long-time Packers executive who left earlier this month.
Moss, who coaches the inside linebackers, says he's happy at Green Bay. But he says that if opportunities come up, he'll deal with them when they occur.
Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin has interviewed for the Miami head coaching vacancy.
There could some more interest in Green Bay's assistants now that the Packers' season is over following their playoff loss to the Giants.
Quarterbacks coach Tom Clements, who interviewed at Penn State, said Green Bay is a very good place to be, so it's a compliment to be mentioned for other jobs. But until something happens, "that's all it is," Clements said. http://www.hudsonstarobserver.com/event ... /id/45895/

Raiders finalizing deal with new coach
Dennis Allen is the new HC.
I trust Reggie McKenzie but having Dennis Allen as our coach concerns me. I guess we'll see if the right decision was made.

For more than three decades, the Oakland Raiders operated under a similar formula with late owner Al Davis hiring offensive-minded head coaches and remaining deeply involved in devising the team’s defense.
That pattern has changed with new general manager Reggie McKenzie’s first major hiring since taking over the football operations earlier this month.
McKenzie is finalizing a contract to make Denver defensive coordinator Dennis Allen the team’s next head coach, a person familiar with the process said Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the team is not publicly discussing the search. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=A ... ders-allen

Re: Off-Season Thread (All Oakland Raiders)
damn this place is dead.
just wanna let you all know that Im a newbie at this site, although i have been posting raider football elsewhere for years and have been a fan for 3 decades.
i personally think allen hire was a gamble, but if reggie feels there is something special, i will put my trust in a guy who came with the most recommendation post-coach davis era.

Not that he'd ever want to play for us, but it's an interesting situation, and one we should possibly pursue. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/76538 ... -wednesday

Re: Off-Season Thread (All Oakland Raiders)
I know it was just a pre-season game but wow at the penalties. It feels like its been years since the teams had their heads in the game. Leinart looked good, I was hoping to pick him up last season when Campbell went down instead of Palmer. Mcfadden looked good as always, the undrafted rookie Streater looks to be a solid pick up for the team as well.

I'm worried that McFadden won't stay healthy for the duration of the season. The penalties have hurt us so much in the past, so hopefully we limit them once the regular season starts, but I question if we're going to.
