WEEK 2 - Ravens @ RAIDERS - Sept 20
Posted: Sun Sep 20, 2015 7:15 pm
Keys to the Game
In the trenches - The Raiders need to apply pressure with the front 4 to be effective in the current scheme. Enter Aldon Smith. All is well? Not last week. We blitzed only 2 in the game and the Red Rocket abused us like a step-child. This week Mack Tuck and Smith face a stout oline in Bal but they are missing their left tackle Monroe and we are minus Jelly and Mayowa . Monroe's replacement has been terrible so let's see some production.
Steve Smith retirement tour vs Carrie and Hayden - Mr. Smith, as he has earned being called, will call it a career after the year and he is looking to go out with a bang. Flacco will target him early and often and Smith is known as a great route runner and an outside WR with the quickness and savvy of an all-pro slot WR. Carrie should shadow him but I don't think the Raiders will flip him and Hayden so it will be a matchup to watch.
Run the damn ball - The huge Raiders Oline will battle the huge Bal front 4, especially Williams Canty and Jerrigans. We need to get push and have olinemen get to the second level to the LBs and Safeties for Murray to have success. Just 11 carries like last week isn't gonna cut it.
Carr staying in his lane - After a shaky start last week and a hand injury, Derek Carr needs to come out a establish some success in the air as well to keep the Ravens from loading the box vs Murray. Using Reece Cooper Crabtree and and the TE's in the intermediate game will help a lot to keep us out of long 3rd downs and keep his jersey clean.
