Raiders extend contract offer to Khalil Mack

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Thu Mar 1, 2018 9:54 am

According to Vic Tafur of the Athletic, the Raiders have submitted an initial contract proposal to Khalil Mack and his representatives regarding a contract extension.

Mack is already scheduled to make $13.85 million this season after Oakland picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract last year. While the initial proposal probably won’t be the final proposal, it’s a significant step in the process toward getting Mack under contract for the long term with the Raiders. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/03/01/report-raiders-extend-contract-offer-to-khalil-mack/

Not looking good........

Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson reports holdout DE Khalil Mack is "likely" to miss regular-season games.
Robinson writes the two sides "have made no progress" in talks and remain "entrenched in the same positions that have contributed to a stalemate in negotiations since February." Robinson adds funding for the guaranteed money in any potential deal -- which has to be placed into escrow at signing -- is not a concern, but the reporter hints coach Jon Gruden might not be comfortable paying Mack a top-of-the-market deal. If that is the case, a trade, which Robinson reports the Raiders will consider, might be the best option for both sides.

Odell Beckham’s new five-year, $95 million deal — agreed to Monday — has reset the market not only for wide receivers, but for Mack and his holdout analog, Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald. https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/08/27/khalil-mack-oakland-raiders-holdout-contract-odell-beckham-jr-obj-deal-guaranteed-money-jon-gruden-deal-aaron-donald-giants-rams/

What this indicates to me is that we have just about zero interest trading him and it's hopes that the media calms down. Also, for teams to not bother right now, unless they do intend to offer two first round picks, which is highly unlikely.

Raiders seeking two first-round picks for DE Khalil Mack

The Raiders continue to deny any and all trade offers for star pass-rusher Khalil Mack. However, there is a growing sense among people around the NFL that Mack could be traded. But the question everyone wants to know is what is the price to trade for Mack?

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, if the Raiders did decide to trade Mack, it would take at least two first-round picks to get a deal done. https://raiderswire.usatoday.com/2018/08/29/report-raiders-seeking-two-first-round-picks-for-de-khalil-mack/

$87 million guaranteed to Aaron Donald.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bears have "an agreement in place" to acquire DE Khalil Mack from the Raiders.
It's really happening. The two sides are still working out the particulars but according to Schefter, the Raiders are "now planning to send Mack to Chicago." The 49ers, Bills, Browns, Colts, Jets and Packers were also in on Mack. The former Defensive Player of the Year has been a holdout all summer and unlike the Rams, who eventually caved into Aaron Donald's lavish contract demands, the Raiders showed little interest in signing Mack long-term. It's another puzzling move by the new Jon Gruden regime in Oakland. Obviously this is a monumental get for the Bears, who featured a surprisingly stout defense under DC Vic Fangio last season. It's unclear what the Raiders will be getting in return, though their reported asking price was a pair of first-round picks.

The Bears gave up first-round picks in 2019 and 2020, a third-round pick in 2020 and a sixth-round pick in 2019, the source said. In addition to Mack, Chicago also gets a second-round pick in 2020 and a conditional fifth-round pick in 2020. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/24543080/chicago-bears-reach-agreement-trade-khalil-mack-oakland-raiders
