NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent DE Yannick Ngakoue is "close to a deal" with the Raiders.

GM Mike Mayock is taking another big swing in free agency despite myriad whiffs during his tenure. Ngakoue appears to be a worthwhile one, however, as a soon-to-be 26-year-old still very much in the prime of his career. Ngakoue made his hay in Jacksonville as a fearsome pass-rusher off the edge, recording 37.5 sacks across four seasons there before splitting time with the Vikings and Ravens last season after refusing to return to play for the Jaguars. He had another eight-sack campaign. The Raiders need the edge juice desperately after whiffing on Clelin Ferrell in the draft.

Chicago is next.
We need a bounce back win after how San Diego handled us.

Raiders favored by 5.5 points.

ESPN's Dianna Russini reports Darren Waller (knee, game-time decision) will be active for Sunday Night Football against the Chargers.

Sidelined since Thanksgiving, it is not surprising that Waller's status came down to the wire, but it's equally unsurprising he is giving it a go in a true "win and in" contest. Having barely practiced since injuring his knee on Turkey Day and dealing with a case of COVID in between, Waller's conditioning will be an open question, making a snap count possible if not probable. He might not cut into Hunter Renfrow's Week 18 target count as much as feared, but if Waller is out there and feeling good, there is zero doubt an avalanche of targets will be coming his way vs. a Chargers defense that has been soft up the seam all year.
