Raiders should sign him to an incentive ladened deal and draft Calvin Johnson

Sign Carr, Draft CJ or trade down and acquire multiple picks with a player to add depth to a position of need (TE, WR, OL, DT)
However, it doesn't seem likely Carr is interested in Oakland, at this point. Maybe we're drafting Russell or Quinn at #1. I'd much rather trade down, conserve money and acquire players at multiple positions.
If we draft Russell, we're looking more towards the future of a 4-5 year window. At that timeframe, our older players will either retire or look elsewhere to get their ring. If we draft #1, players who need re-signed (Asomugha and others) will go elsewhere to get their money and contend.
If we draft Quinn, we're looking more towards a 2-3 year window, in all, LESS time than that of Russell. IMO, Quinn can come in and start now, but using a #1 pick on ONE player will cause problems and lock up our franchise for years. It'd be smart to trade down and get more than one player.

Poor Carr. He got killed in Texas with no offensive line and he wants to come here?
I am all for getting a vet QB and try to win now. But even with Calvin Johnson or any other Offensice threat we really need some protection.

I would be all for signing David, I support him, but we will need to have some protection for any QB that we want to have for the future and present. I'm curious to know how much money David would be seeking.

I don't know if Carr is going to work out.
Still hoping for Trent Green, Jake Plummer... to keep the seat warm for Jamarcus Russell.
Another QB name on the horizon: Tim Rattay??
And BTW, it looks more and more clear that the Raiders will run a "West Coast" (ish) style offense, which will certainly play into the kind of QB we bring in.
Everyone knows Walter (for now at least) and Josh Booty are not the answer It's only a matter of time before we get another QB in as the front-runner to start.

Walter to the third string, sign Carr (incentive deal sounds good-but unlikely), draft Russell.
Davis likes having #1 picks, he aint trading it.

Trent Green would be nice but for some reason I just think we would be his last resort.

Well, I think Trent will be cut soon because the Chiefs want too much in a trade. The longer it takes... he won't have many opportunities to go to a team as the starter, re-establish his value for next year ala Jeff Garcia, like he could with the Raiders.
He seems like a smart guy, a veteran. Comes from a high-powered offense. He could probably come to the Raiders last-minute, and still step in and make the team more dangerous on offense. That would be Herm Edwards' worst nightmare. Trent, coming back, getting some revenge.
The more I think about it, the more I could see Al Davis relishing Trent Green in the silver and black. Last quarterback we got from the Chiefs... didn't fare too bad.
Chiefs will just try to wait it out as long as possible, with a big screw you to Trent Green.

I think Trent Green would be much better than Carr. I havent kept as much on his status.. But I would think he would be a much better fit.

The Raiders didn't need him they just need to get Daunte Culpepper and Draft Jamrcus Russell or Calvin Johnson
