Raiders have entered into talks with McCown

Post#1 » by LLcoleJ » Fri Apr 6, 2007 6:19 pm

Since Carr is off the table. <carolina> Looks like the Raiders are going after McCown from Det.

Not really thrilled with this. Walters / Booty / Mccown?

Raiders discuss trade for McCownposted: Thursday, April 5, 2007 | Print Entry

The Raiders have zeroed in on a veteran quarterback they would like to acquire while they ponder the possibility of drafting LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell.
Oakland has entered into trade negotiations with Lions backup quarterback Josh McCown, who signed with Detroit last season with the idea of being a starter, but he lost his job early to Jon Kitna. Instead of pouting and sulking, though, McCown was a model teammate to a point where he helped out when the Lions needed someone to run some wide receiver routes.

The Raiders have only Andrew Walter and Josh Booty as their main options at quarterback. McCown fits because he's had starting experience and he's mobile in the pocket. Plus, he has a strong arm for downfield throws.

Please don't draft Russell. Please stay away from this guy.

I hoped for Carr and I'm far from being a fan of Josh. Guess will see what happens but we need this void filled.

Whatever results in us drafting Calvin Johnson, I'm in favor of.

Maybe Al goes into hypoglucomic shock and lets someone else make a good football decision? :D

I'm prepared for Russell, Calvin Johnson, even Joe Thomas. I am not prepared for an awful trade or Brady Quinn. And you get that sinking feeling in your stomach that that just might happen.

Pure speculation but pft thinks Moss will be traded around the draft and Raiders will take Johnson. If so Raiders must have someone they think they can get at QB.

I'd love to see the Raiders do something smart. It's tough being a fan of a team that gets criticized for making stupid draft choices and being a overall terribly managed team. But hey, what else is new? We have to go with Calvin Johnson. Not only is he the best talent there, but also if anyone else has noticed, Johnson has kept his mouth shut. Russell came into the workouts a little overweight and talked a little, seems like he might be a guy who slacks off. Just a thought though.

The Raiders seem set on a Quarterback it's between Russell and Quinn now.
