Kiffin's plan: Move to NFL's fast lane

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Wed Jan 2, 2008 9:51 pm

What follows is a look at some of the most-pressing issues concerning the Raiders between now and the start of next season:

1. Closing out games. Numerous times the Raiders led in the fourth quarter but lost.Winning such games is something that comes with a changed mind-set.

"It's a difficult mentality to have when people are so used to losing that it's just what they know," Kiffin said. "It's what happens. You lose games. You find a way to lose them. It is difficult. It's more difficult than if a team had just had one year of it.

Potential upgrades? Like who? Who was better than Hiram Eugene? Who was better than Sam Williams? Warren Sapp? Terdell friggin Sands?

Our personnel is what needs some tweaking... how about a DT that can actually stop the run and plug a gap? How about a linebacker that can tackle with his whole body and not just arms? How about any safety that understands that he's the last line of defense? It was amazing that the Raiders weren't torched all season, even with the incredible play of Morrison, Howard, and Nmondi. Burgess + Warren also played well, but the rest of the team is average... Richardson, Fabian, Huff... average...

Soon as we fix our O-line, WR, and D-line... we'll be set... we're 2 years away from making any real noise IMO... beautiful thing about the NFL is that a few things could go our way and speed up the process to even next year... draft and free agency is a crucial time. What if a speedster WR sees a cannon armed QB with no deep threat? :dontknow:
