So Routt's out, Fabian is our nickelback, and we have DeAngelo Hall and Awesome Wah on either side... that looks damn good.

Isn't Hall a pretty damn good player? I mean, I'm just going off of what I've heard about the guy, but even looking at his numbers. He is only 24 years old, and had his best season last year, and has 15 INTs in his 3 seasons.

Him and Nnamdi? That's just flat out sick.

And we got him for only a second round pick?


But LOL @ us possibly spending 200 million this offseason.

I'm just glad he's out of the NFC if he's not signing with my Giants. Good pick up with the exception that you'll probably lose Nnamdi next year. If you guys are gonna give Hall a new deal how do you think he'll feel about being franchised and he's been there. Seems alittle crazy to me, but hey look at the bright side, maybe Jerry Reese can make him a Giant next year. LOL

I've been reading around the site that people are saying Hall is denying the trade, but I haven't seen anything about it in the news.

I'm thinking its like the TO situation when he got traded to BAL.

I think that the Raiders are trying to play hardball w/DeAngelo, he would have 2 years left on his deal, I think, and they are saying that either they'll renegotiate a longer deal or he'll finish out that contract.

From what I'm hearing, DeAngelo is throwing a fit about it. This is straight from a paid personnel of the Raiders' mouth: "Its tough to be in a worse situation than Atlanta, but right now Hall thinks he found it". (not a high ranking guy at all... very low on the totem pole )

I'd kinda rather have the 2nd rounder right now... this reeks of the Moss debacle.

This is Hall's last year on his deal and any team would be a fool to give up a second round pick to a player they can't retain. He wants to be paid and so does Nnamdi. If they pull the trigger without a new deal they'll be looking at both starting CB's hitting the market at the same time and worth every penny.

Nothing appears to be done yet, but I hope it happens, because both sides will benefit greatly from it. It obviously depends on who Atlanta drafts with the pick too see how value wise things turn out.

Pat Kirwan on NFL Radio stated that all this big money Al is spending have serious inflation built into these deals in 2009 so there's gonna be a crazy salary dump next season. This is really starting to make no sense. Mr. Davis is killing this franchise.

New contract for cornerback almost finalized


As far as the teams are concerned, a deal is already in place. The Raiders will send a second-round selection (34th overall) and sixth-round pick to Atlanta in exchange for Hall.

The delay in the trade stems from Hall entering the final year of his contract. Both Hall and Oakland want to reach a long-term deal. The Raiders don't want to sacrifice the third pick of the second round and a late-round pick for a player who could leave after the season. Hall, the No. 8 overall pick in 2004, wants long-term financial security.

Hall's desire for a long-term deal is part of the reason his four-year tenure with Atlanta is close to being over. The Falcons weren't certain they wanted to make a major financial investment in the talented but outspoken cornerback. Once Atlanta began to entertain trade offers, Hall told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution last month the team no longer wanted him and it was time for him to go.

We can? I was under the impression that you couldn't franchise a player in consecutive seasons, but I could (easily) be incorrect.


And as for DeAngelo Hall, its going to be a 7 year/70 mil deal he'll get from the Raiders.

Almost every year we hear that the Raiders are going to have cap trouble, and they never do. Plus the cap is going up, and Al recently got a big cash infusion. My worry is that historically, it seems hard to really improve your team through the top-flight free agents, so how can we be certain the Raiders will be an exception?

It means that they have two outstanding cover corners, leaving the safeties to roam and to support the run better, which was a huge problem last season.

That's a good point... we need great corners as Huff has struggled guarding players, and I dont think that's Gibril's strong suit either... even if Wilson starts playing better like that, it will just turn Huff into a SS/LB where he looks to stop the run a lot more.

It's unquestionably a good move for us, even w/the overpayment. The question is, will we generate enough of a pass rush for it to matter?
