First player to ever win rookie of the month and player of the month for the same month (and he won rookie of the month for June as well).

This kid is going to be a good one.

He is hands down the best player on the Brewers. I would take him over Fielder, Yovanni, Sheets, etc. Franchise player.

mentioned this in the game thread- in his two full months in the big leagues he's won rookie of the month both times. the kid could legitemately run the table with that award.

Congrats on the great month Ryan and getting the recognition.

Just imagine how good he could be if he could hit with runners in scoring position and less than 2 outs...or if he could hit after the 6th inning.....

Guys like Braun set the bar so high that when they fail -- and they will, since even guys that hit .350 don't get a hit 13 time out of 20 -- people get down on them.

Its the A-Rod effect. Expectations are so high that failure isn't acceptable even though it is inevitable since it is a core part of the game.

Not nitpicking, just pointing out a fact that he wasn't exactly clutch the las tcouple of weeks. I did congratulate him and thought he did great, just wish the timing of the greatness was different that's all.

I wish he never made an error and hit .400. I guess we don't always get what we wish for.

So because he was player of the month I should ignore the fact that his inability to hit a sacrifice fly were contributing factors to game 1 and 3 losses in Cincy, and almost again in game 1 vs NY?

On paper his stats were great. I agree he should have won the awards and I'm happy for him.

Ignore his flaws all you want, but fact is his situational hitting in key moments during our recent bad play has hurt us. And of course one could argue that without his bat early in games, we aren't even in some of these games. But there is a reason they pitched to him with runners at 2nd and 3rd Tuesday night and only 1 out. It wasn't all because Prince was on deck.....

Ok you can point out 2 games where he could have won a game for us. Big deal. You could look at every player on every team for every season of baseball and find the same things.

Yeah whats his problem why can't a rookie have an amazing hitting year and be a gold glover Why must this rookie make some mistakes I really expected him to be perfect... :crazy:

Last time I checked, runs count the same no matter what inning they are scored. Braun is hitting .350 with RISP and .333 with RISP and 2 out. (Fielder is .247/.219).

But yeah there were a couple of games he didn't win for us. I guess he's only good "on paper" :-?

It's easy to have a myopic view.

That's one of the reasons I love baseball. You have to force yourself to have a big picture perspective or else your subjective opinions become severely flawed.

Do you know what's even easier. Pretending one of your favorite players is perfect and has nothing to work on. You can pretend that his failure to hit sac flies in those games are irrelevant all you want.

Most neutral fans (heck, ask Willie Randolph) will tell you that is an area he needs to work on.

****Note**** Keep all of your "he's a rookie" or "he's done this or that" comments to yourself. I KNOW, he has been GREAT. I AGREE. However working on clutch hitting is something he needs to work on considering the club counts on him and I KNOW he's only a rookie and will get better.
