I'm not really mad at who we picked, just shocked about who it is

Let's hope that this doesn't end up being another "Brandon Graham over Earl Thomas/Jason Pierre-Paul" type of mistake.

I'm not knocking him as a player, I'm just saying that we probably could have had him in the second or third rounder.

It was poor value. He's a decent enough player, but he's not an impact guy. Would have rather traded back or taken a value guy like Lee, Nix, Ealy, etc.

They wanted 6 guys at 22 who weren't there. They got an extra 3rd and got a pass rusher who obviously they had a high grade on just bc media had him as 2nd rounder doesn't mean anything. Well see in a few years whether it was a good pick or not

every year the same thing happens

towards the mid-end of the 1st round a bunch of players get selected who nobody really heard of or thought would be picked and the masses freak out.
the real world is not the same thing as Mike Mayock and Mel Kipers board. NFL teams are not basing their board on who Todd McShay has on his "highest rated" board

How do you know Marcus Smith would have been there in the 2nd round? How does anyone know that?
If he was a guy the Eagles really wanted, and they didn't think he would be there in the 2nd then its the right move

Exactly plus media guys rank based on overall player teams rank based on how players fit in their scheme

We needed an edge rusher and we got one. Sometimes you gotta go with who fits your scheme and not worry about where they're ranked. Plus, picking up that early 3rd was huge since we traded ours for Sproles.

Not really sure who they wanted. Because my final mock only 1 guy drop that I figured to go higher and that was Dennard. So it makes you scrath your head when they had 6 guys they wanted at 22. I think Dennard would have been a absolutle steal at 22 best CB in the draft at a need position. But they trade back and take a 2-4th round project. So much for BPA Howie. They desperately reached for need and only time will tell how it will turn out. If the past is any indication he will be a bust.

I would have rather had Jimmie Ward. Jimmie is next in line of great defensive players on the 49ers.

I like Marcus Smith and think he can be a big time pass rusher in the NFL, but I definitely think they reached a bit. Still glad they grabbed a guy I like.

In Chip I trust.

Was anyone else kind of hoping we snagged Manziel at 22 when he slipped that far?

Yes, you are correct. I guess I should finish my coffee before I post.

Someone had mentioned that the 5th we traded for Sproles was the one we got from NE in the Sopoaga deal?

I think the Eagles really needed a pass rusher and they got one. His stats and film look good. And he has the size to be dominant. And he certainly has upside. I just dont think at 22 you will get an impact guy for a 10-6 team.
