They noted previous big trades for coaches that teams made, like the Bucs gave the Raiders 2 first-round picks and 2 second-round picks and $8 million for Jon Gruden.

Hell start with that and it would be a great way to reload. Can send him Lynch too, who's a former Bus great.

I really dont see that happening. The Raiders traded Gruden because Davis was an egomaniac who couldnt take Gruden getting credit. York is nothing like that. The only issue York had was with Harbaugh because of his sometimes combative and over the top nature and his feud with Baalke. None of those players exist any longer

Yes, the injuries played a part, but this is still a playoff-caliber team even with the injuries we've experienced. We haven't played like that this year, and that goes pretty deep.

We have neglected both lines for years now, and thus have no real depth at any line position. That's why our interior OL can't hold up blocking and our DL can't stop the run

Idk that the current roster is playoff caliber when looking at who is actually healthy. I dont understand Shanahan's insistence on the emphasis on getting Deebo the ball last game and his continued use of Deebo on jet sweeps

We have remained loyal to players like Jake Brendel (and coaches like Schneider) despite years of struggles. The same is becoming true of Deebo, who has only had one kind of good game this season and has had several disastrous games dating back to last year.

Our defensive coaching is unoriginal and predictable. It worked when we were elite across the board, but it doesn't do our players any favors.

And our offense seems to have been largely figured out. We frequently end up in 3rd and long, we have no answers to blitzes.

Lots of changes need to be made, and I hope Shanahan and Lynch realize that and commit to it.

Marissa Myers is pushing a story that the niners are going to bring in Aaron Rodgers as hc to replace Kyle. Lol.

I wpuld be embarrased reporting that story. Does she think this is the NBA? Rodgers might need to coach QBs first and then be an OC for awhile

Rodgers has made so much money that he doesn't have to go into coaching. Superstar players generally do not go into coaching.

Maybe he's interested in doing it but why, he hates having to answer to the media, which would be even more demanding if he became a coach.

If Tom Brady wanted to be an NFL coach next year do you really think that he'd have to "work his way up" from QB coach? Hell, Jeff Saturday was called off the street with zero experience into being a head coach.

Jeff Saturday? You really had to dig deep with that one. And where is he now? Tom Brady would not be a head coach next year. You know nothing about football

i like Kyle but if the Bears approached us with a couple of firsts for Kyle, I wouldn't be totally against it, if only we can secure someone like Vrabel or something. not sure what would happen w/ Brock in that scenario though, maybe trade him for like a 3rd to Miami who'll want to secure Tua's backup and he'd be great in that system.

Maybe he could bring in DeAndre Campbell for DC too.

York gives Shanahan and Lynch a vote of confidence.

The 49ers CEO spoke exclusively with The San Francisco Standard's Tim Kawakami on Monday prior to the 49ers' 40-34 loss to the Detroit Lions at Levi's Stadium, and confirmed that both the head coach and president of football operations/general manager will return next season despite a very disappointing 2024 NFL season.

“They’re not going anywhere,” York told Kawakami.

York also expressed to Kawakami that while nobody in the organization is happy with the results this season and with how every decision played out, he believes injuries to Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, Javon Hargrave and others were devastating blows and that the team was unable to turn things around after losses early in the season.

So going back to the first post of this thread, looks like the extension would go through the 2025 season?

So next season is their contract year?
