My dream draft scenario for the Niners

Post#1 » by darobster17 » Thu Apr 2, 2009 7:28 am

1st situation that happens is that Crabtree falls to the Niners at their 10thprojected draft position. I know...I know it's not gonna happen since there are several teams like Jaguars or even the Raiders needing a WR but you never know...Maclin might be good pick but think they'll use the first pick on the O-line or Defensive end like Orakpo/Maybin... Worst case scenario imo is they take Mark Sanchez.

BTW...why the hell didn't Isaac Bruce just retire...don't get me wrong the guy had a good year for someone who's on the downside of his career. Now we might have the two oldest in Bruce and maybe Tory Holt?

If Crabtree isn't available then in the second round, the niners should take Heyward Bey if he's there. If Heyward Bey isn't there...then take the best available player.

So later in the rounds, if the Niners go after a QB, they should go after Graham Harrell from Texas Tech...

Getting Crabtree and Harrell would bring more optimism and excitement for the upcoming season. Bruce would be a great mentor to whatever WR we get. We better draft a WR cuz we definitely missed out on last year...Not hating on Josh Morgan but Kentwan Balmer sucks donkey balls.

Worst case scenario imo is they take Mark Sanchez.

Why would this be the worst case scenario? I think he has the goods to be a real good NFL QB. Orakpo would be a good pick if he's there but I doubt he'll be there.

If Crabtree isn't available then in the second round, the niners should take Heyward Bey if he's there.

Heyward-Bey won't be around at 43, especially after a solid combine. I'm thinking they could go OL depth, maybe Unger from Oregon.

they should go after Graham Harrell from Texas Tech...

Texas Tech's history at QB under Leach isn't very good when translating to the pros. I don't see how he's that much better than Klingsbury and the other QB's from there.

I've been against drafting Sanchez at 10. But, if one of Orakpo, Raji, or Crabtree doesn't fall, then I don't see a better option.

GSWarriors...I've seen some couple games of USC and feel that Sanchez is simply not ready imo. You know a player is not ready when his own former head coach,Pete Carroll was against his decision to declare for the draft. Carroll might have some hidden agendas but whatever...

Just curious what makes Sanchez different from past USC QB's like Leinhart and Carson Palmer?? Matt Cassel is probably the only exception but we will see if he's the real deal when he's with his new team.

What about Stafford as the better option? I know the Niners have publicly made it known that they don't like Stafford but they could still take him and then deal him right? Or is that highly unlikely.

It really depends on Cincy,Oakland and Buffalo draft selections on whether they like Heyward Bey imo.

On Harrell....Maybe I've watched one too many Texas Tech games but can't question the guy's arm and his will to win.

Why cant the Niners trade up in the draft? Maybe w/ the Browns. SF really needs a WR and Crabtree is one of a kind. I def. like Bey-haywood but whats the chances of him being there at 43? 10th is to early to draft him. I really like Maclin too but i think SF needs a big target.
To quote GetSeven
With Jimmy at the 2 spot this lineup (along with depth) has the potential to be the best since the Jordan/Pippen days easy.

The niners don't have any tradeable players that other teams want. Even if we did, I think we get future 1st round picks...just how Denver got future draft picks since they dealt Cutler to the Bears.

One possible scenario is dealing our 10th which I think will be Stafford or possibly Sanchez and get more picks in the second or third round which makes sense. Or we could keep either QB but would be stupid imo.

Acquiring Brandon Jones for 5yrs@16.6million MAKES NO SENSE to me. Brandon Jones...give me a break?
That money could of been given to Plaxico Burress or get Darren Sproles as the backup RB...

Here are some other names that they should of gone after instead of Brandon Jones:
Ronald Curry
David Patten
Nate Washington
Miles Austin

Another head scratcher...picking up Damon Huard for 1yr.

Plaxico Burress is either going to jail or will be suspended for much of the 2009 season. That would have not been money well spent. Brandon Jones may not be the type of WR fans want but the team sees that he's young enough to have some upside to him and he adds depth at WR. They likely see him as a starter or 3rd WR depending on how Hill and Morgan develop. Ronald Curry is a talent but he can't stay healthy. Austin and Sproles were RFA's and would have costed high draft picks that this team can't really afford to lose. I found out Dallas wanted a 2nd rounder for Austin. No thanks.
