Last Draft Predictions

Post#1 » by Commodor » Thu Apr 22, 2010 8:36 am

We got about 14 hours till the draft. Lets hear the last second predictions and see who's closest. Do however many rounds you want. I'm going first two.

I'm going out on a limb.. I like to make it interesting.

13th- Joe Haden (Not interesting at all)
17th- Trade down with either Philly/Dallas/Minnesota for their 1st and 3rd. Grab Taylor Mays with the 1st.

2nd- Veldheer

(We use the 3rd to grab another potential OL)

13th...Haden or CJ Spiller(depending on who's available)...Niners in the past has taken heat for not taking Chris Johnson or Desean Jackson...so if Spiller is there, I'd be surprised if they don't take Spiller since they could take Haden or Thomas with the 17th pick if either player slips. No Jimmy Clausen please!!!!!!!!

17th...Anthony Davis or Trent Williams(OT) if niether CB's are not available. This team needs to improve the OL.

49th...Bruce Campbell/Ducasse or USC Griffen or Brandon Spikes...More OL help or get a Pass Rusher.

79th...Best available QB or SS Myron Rolle

Predictions:

The Raiders will do something beyond idiotic. They will either trade their pick for Rapistberger or make a dumb all athleticism pick, like Jason Pierre Paul or Dez Bryant.

Here's what I'm hoping the Niners do:

13: Harden

If the best CB in the draft falls in our laps I will be ecstatic. If he's not there I want Trent Williams and if he isn't there and all the other top OTs are gone, take Graham.

17: Jimmy Clausen

I am officially SOLD on J-Claus. He has all the poise, intelligence, and ability to buy time in the pocket that Smith has BUT he has succeeded in a pro offense under a pro coach and HE HAS AN ARM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGHzJo8Bc5k

He doesn't need to be limited by stupid shotgun only formations that send him rolling out right (aka the only times Alex Smith excels), he can do it all. He floats some of his passes but who gives a damn, that can be remedied. Plus, would yoou rather roll the dice on a QB or an OL (the pick here would probably be the volatile and spacey Anthony Davis)? Vote Clausen in 2010!

I feel confident we won't do anything stupid but I'm not overly confident in our ability to draft O-Linemen. We struck the F out on Chili's Rachel, passing on DeSean THA BOMB Jackson but we also hit a homerun with Joe Staley late in the first. GO CLAUS N HADEN

Why... why would we trade up for Anthony **** Davis when Bulaga is on the board and there are only one team that could possibly want a OT. FFFFFFFF. I'd rather have McClain

Meh, can't say making a huge weakness a marked strength is a bad draft. I'm cool with Iupati and Davis.

Staley, Iupati, and Davis are gonna be 3 new additions to that o-line. That's a huge overhaul because they are all dominant level o-linemen.

I don't think Baalke was sober when he traded up just to get Anthony Davis. I am happy we drafted Iupati with the 17th.

Trading up for Davis is pretty dumb to be honest. We could have just gone defensive with that pick, but there's no denying Davis has huge potential. But will he put it all together...

There's still a chance that someone else was looking to trade up to take Davis. Denver and Miami wanted to trade down, so you never know if the Packers were willing to trade up to get Davis. Either way, we'll get two good players in 2 or 3, and I wouldn't be surprised if we trade down in either one to get a pick in the 4th or 5th round.

Lots of good talent at 49.

I'm thinking Nate Allen(FS). I think he's the 3rd best S in this class.

The 49ers should definitely take Allen in the 2nd since they don't have a 4th rounder to acquire Myron Rolle anymore.

Taylor Mays ='s bust

There is a reason why Pete Carroll drafted another safety ahead of Mays.

But I guess I can live with him in the 2nd because safety needs to be addressed. I still don't want him though.

I'm hoping Kindle falls all the way to 49, but I'm pretty skeptical that will happen. If he doesn't Frisco needs to go secondary with Nate Allen or Morgan Burnett. Wasting a 4th rounder to move up a whopping 2 spots (I can't emphasize enough how much I hated that move) diminishes the chance of getting safety help in the mid rounds with Myron Rolle or Major Wright. That coupled with the Ginn trade, leaves Frisco with only a 3rd and an extremely late 5th in the mid rounds.

Corner still needs to be addressed as well, but with CB run in the late 1st I'm not so sure anybody available @ 49 is worth the pick. Once again wasting that 4th rounder angers me. If Kindle/Burnett/Allen are all off the board @ 49 I would like to see a trade down and gain some additional picks in the middle rounds.

I know its not a glaring need but I would still like to pickup another wideout. Ginn is not a #2. I like Morgan but he is clearly much better suited in the slot. I'm guessing Benn and Lafell will go in the 2nd, but I would take a look at Eric Decker should he take a big fall cuz of durability issues.

Return to San Francisco 49ers
