Don't know much about the other guys, but Blount is a FAN EFFING TASTIC pick up. We all know his story and his "issues" have been well publicized. But dude has legit NFL talent, and is one of the most talented backs in this year's class. I would even go as far as to say that if the kid can keep walking the straight line he is capable of having the best pro career of the class ahead of Spiller and Matthews even. Not saying that its definitely going to happen, but dude has enought talent to be in the conversation.

Even if he goes cuckoo again, the organization is not out much of anything, nothing of value really.

With the drafting of Dixon and siging of Blount, Glen Coffee better plan on bringing it this off/pre-season. I never really thought that highly of him anyways, plus IMO Kory Sheets vastly outperformed Coffee last pre-season. But since Coffee was a 3rd round pick Sheets was cut and Coffee was kept.

Honestly I wouldn't be at all surprised if going into week one the RB depth chart reads:

1) Frank Gore
2) LeGarrette Blount
3) Anthony Dixon
4) Glen Coffee

I wouldn't even be shocked if Coffee was outright cut.

No matter what, I believe Blount easily makes the team and will seriously compete to be Frank's primary backup.

Luv, luv, luv this pickup

I'll take a wait and see approach on Blount. He's got the talent, but so did Sheets, and look what happened.

Not sure about all this hyperbole around Blount. I think he went undrafted for one simple reason--he's not that quick at the snap. Seems to have decent speed, but unless he has a big hole to get up to speed, he's prone to being dropped in the backfield. IMO, he needs to drop about 10 lbs, gain some quickness. If he does, he could be an effective power back. But what can he give us that Dixon won't?

Sheets played remarkably well in the pre-season, definitely well enough to make the squad. IMO the reason why he was ultimately cut was that Kory is a scat back type, who excels with catching balls out of the backfield. Much like a Darren Sproles. Sing was dead set on utilizing a smashmouth, shorten the game, grind it out football team. Sheets isn't that kind of back.

I'm thinking thats why they drafted Dixon and signed Blount. They are guys that fit that bill.

Regardless, Frisco reached for Coffee in the 3rd last year and he hasn't shown much. In The 2 games (basically 3) that Frank missed, Glen was quite unimpressive IMO. Also when Frank was in uniform Coffee RARELY saw the field. To me that says that the team didn't have much confidence in him. I think The role of Frank's primary backup is wide open at the moment. But thats just my opinion.

In any event, Blount was regarded as a 1st round caliber prospect this time last year before he got punch happy. To get him for basically nothing, is a no lose potentially big win situation. If he flakes out, oh well.

Agree on all points made here,

I think this is awesome...before Blount went Mike Tyson on that guy, he was considered one of the top backs in the NCAA. If he comes to play and wants to prove to everyone why he was considered a top RB, this could be a HUGE pickup

I also really liked Sheets and was pissed that they cut him. The way looked in pre-season, he could have been our Spiller/Best type of back that a lot of us think we need

You guys have every reason in the world to be excited about signing LeGarrette Blount. His tumultuous year has been no secret, and his name has been dragged through the mud by every anonymous internet poster in world, but he is going to surprise a lot of people.

This is a nice pre-draft article on him, and the highlight reel at the bottom will blow your mind.

P.S. If Taylor Mays made you cream your shorts, your gonna **** those same shorts when you see Blount blow him up in the open field on day one of practice.

I love the fact that the Niners drafted players that bring the hit stick on offense and defense. Mays and Blound both have something to prove. Coming into camp with chips on their shoulders will just lift the level of play. Navarro Bowman will turn alot of heads too. Love the direction this team is going.

With Jimmy at the 2 spot this lineup (along with depth) has the potential to be the best since the Jordan/Pippen days easy.

Evidently, Blount has backed out of his deal with the 9ers and now signed with the Titans. WTF, thats a straight up d*ck move.

Obviously he is the ideal type of back to compliment CJ, but don't agree to a contract until you've considered all your options and hear everybody out dude.

Where is Kory Sheets? Dude should be invited to camp.

Blount made the right decision. I doubt that the Niners would give up on Coffee so soon. I could see Dixon being the #2 RB when the season starts IF Coffee fails to impress, but he won't be cut anytime soon. That being said, Blount would have started training camp as the #5 RB (Gore/Coffee/Dixon/Robinson), and the chances of him seeing the field, as anything but a special teams player, would have been pretty rare.

He woulda started low on the depth chart, but if the Niners staff is worth its salt they would have given him a shot and he would have moved up that list very quickly. Bummer about him taking off to Tennessee, I definitely saw San Fran as a better situation for him.

He could have had the best spring training/pre-season out of any RB (just look at what Sheets did last year), he still wouldn't have made the team, unfortunately. After Gore, Coffee is #2 (due to being picked 3rd in last draft), Dixon is #3 (if he makes the team) and Robinson is #4...and there's no way Robinson is cut from the team. I'm not sure if he still is, but last year he was one of the captains of the special team, wasn't he? Either way, I think Blount will have a good season with the Titans.

I believe Blount will have even less of a shot over there in Tennessee with Lightning Chris Johnson. Chris Johnson gets a ton of carries.

But Tennessee did just let FatDale White go so there will be some carries available for the Titans.

True. Blount can just get all the garbage carries and whenever CJ needs a water break.

Maybe, but Blount is a different type of runner than Johnson.
