I'll take Kolb over Carson just on age alone. Kolb is 26, Palmer is 31. We've seen Palmer max out (Which is not too high, and has been regressing recently), whereas Kolb still has upside.
Factoring in Palmer is injury prone, and was downright dreadful last season. Plus Kolb, has been groomed by one of the better offensive coaches in the league. Considering these factors, I'll take Kolb yet again.
If the asking price is remotely similar for both guys I'll EASILY take Kevin Kolb.

Yeah, I just think I'd rather have a D-Line guy or a CB then an OLB.

I don't think it is. I heard at one point that Philly wanted 2 first rounders for Kolb.

We may have seen the best of Palmer but we know that the best is playoff caliber. He has proven to be a top ten QB in the league at his best. He's also never played on a great team. (Not that the niners are great yet) Kolb has more upside but also has bigger potential to bust. We don't really know anything about him, so it could go either way.

I just saw that the Cots released Bob Sanders. I realize the guy has been made of glass but I hope the Niners at least take a look at him. He was the best defensive player in the league just 3 years ago.

Bob Sanders was an excellent safety. Injury issues are way to big of a concern for us to take a risk when we should look for other free agents like a quarterback, corner, and d-line. Safety is an offseason need but we need a ball-hawking safety. Sanders is a better fit for run support as he is a hard hitting safety. If anything I think we should look at OJ Atogwe who was released by the Rams. He would provide an upgrade for pass defense since no one in our secondary was good last year.

Watch out for the development of taylor mays this year. He should open up some eyes imo.
