He's damn good now but he's 32 and not cheap. Given that the Niners were a bad call away from a Super Bowl win...nice deal. It's not long term...of course and that's why he did not cost a higher pick.

would've thought they get Harvin...so is Boldin, Moss replacement? Hope they still push hard for Revis, I thought Niners CB were better than that but man did they get lite up in the SB.

Re: OT: 49ers get Boldin for 6th
I don't trust Revis' injury and the amount of cap killing money that is....not to mention he's a me first guy on a team that despises that.
Moss wasn't me first at all this year and that's why they grabbed him. Boldin is a tough guy leader that this team loves. Perfect fit.

Exactly he's an elite weapon but you can pay guys like Sproles half the money to play that role.
If I'm paying a WR top 5 money, I want a guy who can be a possession WR, be above average in blocking, can make big plays, grab jump balls and hold onto the ball after taking big hits. There's not a ton of them in the league and guys who aren't top 5 will force teams to pay them top 5 money but I don't think Seattle was in such a dire need to upgrade WR that they needed to make such a risky move.
Rodgers covering Harvin in the slot could be a disaster waiting to happen though.
Devil's advocate: by getting Harvin, Seattle gets their running/pistol QB the ultimate gadget weapon. Few players would be as well suited for that role as Harvin. I'd actually say he's the best receiver to possibly have in that system.
With that said, Crabtree excels on bubble screens, so either he gets a dip in production and efficiency or we don't really utilize Harvin to full potential. I think we were right to pass and needed a big, strong receiver for quite some time.

Look for the Niners to grab Zach Ertz or Keenan Allen in the draft.

Allen is gone by mid-first. In no way Allen is going to the 31st pick. If so, he must be DONE.

What do we have now? A high 1st, 2 2nds and a third round pick? Combine some of those and I imagine we'd be in a pretty good position to move up if we see a player we really like there at cornerback.

The Great Heyward-Bey RELEASED. Funny how so many said he is way way better than Crabs.

True, I never said he wasn't an elite weapon or a great addition (especially coming from Bevell's offense), I just believe in more cost effective ways to add weapons than to pay such a high costing position like WR to fill that role, especially when you consider that he's been injury prone his entire career which doesn't bode greatly for a small player who's only getting older. I'd rather get a scat back with good hands and pay a WR like Bowe (obviously I'd take other WRs but this is a guy who could possibly have been had for a similar package). Although Rice is solid at catching jump balls to fill that void that Harvin can't. Also I mostly question the move because they're a young team and although WR needed an upgrade I don't know if I like the cost they're paying. A lot of guys are due big paydays including Sherman, Thomas, Wilson and Okung, plus need upgrades in the interior O Line.
I guess there's a lot of players who would scare me more than Harvin, especially when you consider the injury issues (too bad we're probably gonna lose Goldson who would have been Percy's worst nightmare).
For Crabtree you are right in some regards I think Boldin is one of the better complimentary WRs to put next to him, especially with a TE like Vernon who stretches the field like a WR. Boldin may be the best blocking WR in the league. If Crabtree gets the ball in space he will actually benefit even more. May get less targets though. Boldin could also possibly be asked to play Delanie Walker's role so not as many targets are taken from Crabs.

Re: OT: 49ers get Boldin for 6th
Totally agree, and yes, that Seahawaks team will need to be blown up soon. Keep in mind though that Kaep, Iupati, Davis and Aldon will all need to sign massive deals very soon (mid-next season most likely).
A lot of safety options shaking out in FA right now and I'm liking the Niners approach. We need a guy who can cover the space Whitner doesn't and play a center field force turnovers role, Charles Woodson definitely fits that mold. Flip side we have LaRon Landry and Bernard Pollard who would both be much cheaper than Goldson and provide more or less the same thing.

I always thought he had talent (Glenn, not Ken). He was picked 5th overall. You put him with the Niners front line and he could finally reach his potential.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a move to upgrade their secondary, signing safety Dashon Goldson on Wednesday.
Goldson received a five-year deal worth $41.25 million, including $22 million guaranteed, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Goldson was a key member of the San Francisco 49ers' defense and had 69 tackles and three interceptions for the NFC champions, earning his second Pro Bowl spot.

Turk3d commented on a signing that was both announced yesterday and discussed yesterday on this forum. His post gives further credence to Warriors forum posters upset that their 49ers thread was shut down for no reason.
We will continue to report on this story as new information arises.

Hey Dubbs fans... 9ers should try to get Dumvervil now.
Seattle too quick of a trigger in signing their pass rusher.
