Philly's defensive "scheme" was a joke. Nnamdi's a man-cover guy and they plugged him into a zone scheme and expected him to adapt seamlessly.

It almost makes you think that hiring an offensive line coach to be your defensive coordinator wasn't a good idea.

Just talked to a buddy who's a huge Philly fan, here's his response:

I agree with that, but they switched that in the middle of his time in Philly. They let him go back to man and press on the line. He still got torched

I'd still give him a shot for the right price (I guess that goes without saying). Culture factors in to performance, Niners have an excellent one, Philly (recently) has not.

Niners sign Phil Dawson. Sucks to lose what once was a near automatic three points but it's the circle of life.

and1gs, I edited your title, hope you don't mind :wizard:

The best kicker on the FA market, probably means that they are pretty much done in FA. Now the focus turns to the draft.

Surprise a 38 year old kicker. Last year was his best year but at 38, can he do it again?

The Niners should still draft a young kicker as a kickoff specialists and eventually that younger kicker takes over next season.

Not sure about a career year but Dawson should be between 85-90% this season, which would be a huge improvement over last season.

Highly doubt the team drafts a kicker, then again maybe they do if they keep all of the picks but I don't think that happens. The team will try to add a couple day 3 picks next year I'd imagine.

Not a FA signing, so thought I'd put it here.

The 49ers extended the contract of RT Anthony Davis for 5-years, $37M, $17M guaranteed.
