You guys forgot Ward. And the pass rush

I blame Fangio for the pass rush.. Can't bring 4 every time and expect pressure..

Ward I think was put in an awful position by the coaches. he was not drafted to cover big, strong, #1 WR.

You're probably right, but they shouldn't have drafted him in the first place, and i think there are a few on here who would agree.

Why are we basing this off of one game where he had to cover a top 10 receiver when he is suppose to be defended slot guys. I blame for the coaches for not switching up the CB's

We'll see how he fares. I ll give him this game, but i dont like what i see. Also it's not just one game, because as Cal pointed out, he struggled against blondie from the Cowgirls last week.

To be fair he is a rookie and he was playing against Marshall who has 6 inches on him I believe. Not sure why we didn't put one of the bigger CBs we have on him in the slot instead of Ward

I said on FB thats Ill give him this one, but if this becomes a constant theme, i dont know. I wasn't so sure of the pick and i hope Im wrong. But man, he sucked today. On top of that we have to deal with Cully in the house and his craptastic gluteus Maximus on display

Ward also looked very weak vs that blonde guy from dallas last week

Like Cal said.

That was more in garbage time when we were playing prevent.. Before that you never really heard his name called or saw him get beat.
He is a rookie pretty playing a different position at the pro level. I will give him more time

I can't see blaming this on Baalke. He's put together a heck of a talented roster, IMO. I lay the blame squarely on the shoulders of the coaching staff and players. We know these guys can play, but their heads weren't in the game today.

And speaking coaching vs. personnel, did Carradine get a single snap? We couldn't get any pressure, and I'm not sure he set foot on the field.

Baalke is an average GM. He's been very good at times and terrible at others.

My sig from Poopla is/was that Baalke sucks at drafting in late rds... so far so true

Gotta wonder about the early ones as well - AJ confirmed, Ward a question mark and perhaps Vance, who looks nowhere as good as Carrier.

Yea, I really meant the late part of the rounds, like the backhalf of the round 1, 2, 3, etc....

Aldon(top 10) n a trade up for Reid were his best 1st rd picks. Jenkins n Ward sorry ass selections...

I'm not gonna rag on Ward because he should be playing free safety with Reid at SS. He isn't gonna get to do that though with Bethea around.

But that's on them though... they should've drafted a CB who plays CB not a Safety to play CB only to play Safety again in a few years...

I remember when Mem or Supreme did a mock draft n drafted Pryor... I wasn't a fan of it cuz it was a safety, a position we did not need since we signed on Bethea...

anyhoot... this is their plan, they're cant be too much leeway in regards to Ward. For me at least, Ward didn't look good vs Dallas last week either...

so far its becoming a pattern... and last night he let up 3 TDs... give the kid help or move somewhere else..

I'd consider putting Cox in for him when Brock comes back to play on the outside.

That sounds right... I would even take Dontae over Ward right now... Johnson looks to be promising, not a shutdown of the league but a very reliable guy....

And that's the thing - the scary thing. Maiocco mentioned that Ward wasn't even the best rookie corner on the team despite being a first round selection at camp. And I'm with Cal, why draft a safety to be a nickle corner if he's going to be a safety, especially somebody in the first round? Yeah, I know he had his hands full with Marshall, and an injured Marshall at that, but teams will look at the tape and put their ball hawk wideouts against Ward because he has neither the height nor exceptional vertical to challenge those kind of jump ball passes.

A projection perhaps? Reminds of me of what the Niners did with Rumph Roast some years ago (although that was more by accident considering Rumph was the worst corner in all of football).
