2013 Draft Class
Ok guys time to check in on our 2013 draft class! What do you all think so far? Eric Red has been a find. But other than that, we havent got much up to this point. I am willing to give Tank a little break since this is essentially his rookie season. What about Vance McDonald? He has been a solid blocker thus far, but shouldnt we expect more than that from a 2nd round pick?...I am very disappointed about Lemonier. He showed potential last season, but has done NOTHING so far. Quinton Patton showed potential last season too, but he cant seem to beat out Brandon Lloyd. Not good! We all know the story about Lattimore....But Dial looked very strong in preseason but barely gets playing time now. And Nick Moody plays special teams - considering he was a 6th rounder, I am not too disappointed. So what is going on with this class! Or did Baalke screw up like he did in 2012?

Still early but the returns on this class really aren't looking all that great.
Tank cant even get on the damn field. McDonald doesnt seem all that special and fairly average. Way too high of a draft pick.
We really need to get Dial and Tank out there and see what they can do.

I guess according to Fangio, Tank is not ready to contribute due to his lack of knowledge of the playbook. But come on, Tank looked very good in preseason and Dial was near dominant. I am most disappointed this season with Lemonier because he's been nonexistent in the pass rush. But like you said, still early.

Well the guys who have a solid grasp of the playbook can't get to the QB so might as well throw him out there. It's not like he is a QB. Tell him to tackle the dude with the ball. He is a Dlineman for **** sake.

I think Dial and Carradine haven't suited because of two things:
1. Vic Fangio doesn't like to rotate, especially on the DL. McDonald, Williams and Smith play almost the entirety of the game. So even if Dial and Carradine were activated, they wouldn't see much time on defense anyways.
2. They don't play special teams. So because they're not gonna see much time on defense AND they don't play special teams, there's is just no point in activating them right now.

Well, the pass rush has been pretty anemic up to this point. Time to put them in!

Re: 2013 Draft Class
Still early(I know, coming from me!!! lol)
Reid is a stud, he will continue to get better
McDonald is not helping himself with his limited nor when we see Carrier make leaping catches to McDonald's wtf drops...
Tank...what was the point?
Lemonade is a backup/rotation guy...if can either get a lot stronger or learn a new pass rush move maybe this could be better. But Parys 2.0 is written all over him.
Patton... doesn't look good. I thought he was good for where he was in the depth chart but the signing of Stevie and keeping Lloyd baffles me... therefore, ain't looking pretty.
Lattimore... will his knees hold up?
Dial... let him **** play... lol

Re: 2013 Draft Class
It's definitely not 2012. Reid alone seals that.
Frankly, I'm really irritated with Fangio so far as this class goes. Tank needs to see the field. We have no pass rush at all, and he's got a high second-rounder, who probably should have gone much higher, languishing on his bench. Sure, Tank isn't 100% assignment sound. Who gives a s#!t? And yes, Dial had a penalty on one of his three snaps last week. He also blew up the opposing QB. Something no one else on the roster - except Patrick Willis unblocked on a blitz - has managed this year. Get those guys in the game over TJE, please.
McDonald is still a work in progress. He'd be doing a lot more catching the ball if Davis wasn't around. He was probably taken a little high, but I think he can still be a good, solid TE.
Lemonier is a huge disappointment. I had high hopes for him and saw him eventually taking over for Brooks at one of the OLB spots. That's not out of the question, per se, but he's been totally ineffective. He uses that speed rush too much, and doesn't have the bend to hook back the QB. He constantly runs himself out of plays. The failure of our OLBs is arguably the biggest problem for the D right now.
Lattimore is what he is. We knew when he came in that he might never play. He defined boom or bust, and at this point you've got to lean toward the latter. With a late-4th and that kind of potential, I can live with the move.
And Moody has been doing a pretty good job of exactly what we brought him in for, so no complaints there. The big issue is not getting our DL on the field, IMO. These guys looked really promising in the preseason, often going against 1s and at worst 2s. Please get them some reps in the passing game.

This just kills me. Put him in on obvious passing downs. Who cares about the playbook? Let him get after the QB. It could not possibly be worse than what we have going now on passing downs.

Re: 2013 Draft Class
what **** playbook is there for a DL to grasp per se?
I've played football and I know the roles aren't as many as other positions on defense... what's so complex? lol
someone else stated here or elsewhere that the guys who do know the book aren't doing sh*t anyways... what's there to lose?

+1. It's not like Fangio is calling some fancy stunts or rush/coverage schemes, so beyond putting your hands in the dirt and trying to push the line back (which is all the line seems to be doing) what else is there in the playbook to pick up on??!

I thought Patton showed enough promise to keep around. And I am not really sure that Lloyd is an upgrade over him anyway. I say cut Lloyd, or at least activate Patton over Lloyd next time. Totally agree about Dial, let him play.

Totally agree about the DL, let the two young guys Dial and Carradine rush the passer on passing downs. I am still hopeful about Lemonier.
