49ers work out speedy return man

Trindon has been one of my favorite returners that's been in the league. For a long time I was surprised no team got more out of him as a gadget man in an offense either but I think the possibilities on that ship has sailed. If they're going to sign any available return man, Holiday and his dicey hands would likely be at the top of my list.

Really hope they will sign someone immediately to replace Hyde as a returner. He's doing a decent job back there but it scares the heck out of me every time he brings it out because the collisions are getting crazy. We can't afford to have him break an arm or wrist returning a kickoff. He's been driving me crazy taking deep kicks out of the endzone all the time. The risk/reward is just not there. Yes, he may get to the 25 and force one of their ST players to sit out the game with a concussion, but don't think he'll ever bring one to the house. If he goes down then we don't really have anything left from an already empty tank on offense in the 4th quarter. We need a conventional shifty fast returner back there, and someone to keep Cox safe and healthy on the bench.

Losing either one of them would be a complete nightmare to top off the injury marathon. Punt return unit was so bad all around last week that we would have literally been better rushing 11 compared to getting a penalty on every single punt return. That's pretty crazy to think about given we didn't turn the ball over there either. Cox could develop into a decent returner, but it's not worth it at this point to what he means to our defense.

I like this I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks we are getting the ball however far the opposing punter can punt it everytime

Trindon Holiday isn't on an NFL roster and the Niners were using Carlos Hyde as a kick returner???

They didn't sign him. This better not backfire because this game likely comes down to special teams.

49ers finally signed him today (to the typical 2-year deal) and placed Alex Boone and Ray Ventrone on IR. They also promoted Cameron Fuller to the active roster.
