Russell Wilson doesn't have huge problems identifying open receivers like Kaepernick does.

I know he saw the running lane, but the entire point is that he's proving Trent Dilfer right: he's a one read & run QB. He simply doesn't see anyone else who's open.

Russell Wilson does the same thing in the gif you posted. And even Greg Cosell mentioned how many basic plays Wilson misses especially from the pocket

He was already in run mode when VD turned up field. He saw the guarantee running hole and took it. If there was a linebacker standing by the 1st down marker, he would have probably passed to VD

Disagree. Wilson is just as bad about going through his progressions in the pocket as Kap is.

It's a case where I would like to know what he's coached to do. I tend to believe he's been coached when he sees a lane to not ask questions and just tuck and run it.

Also why I've been harping on pass protection in other threads. With the amount of pressure he's seeing he just doesn't trust his O-line to hold up long enough to stand in and deliver a pass. In especially the Denver game it doesn't surprise me he would tuck and run with a lane that wide over taking a chance on his protection.

I bet even with my old creeky knees I could have ran for 15 or 20 yards there

A good QB would have thrown at the top of Kap's dropback to where Vernon would be, and it may have gone for a TD (with a throw, the safeties get back faster and maybe get to Vernon inside the 20). Kap should have seen it and made the throw, no doubt. It's nice our QB can do the escape act, but I agree with Sick that I'd rather see him make the read and the throw.

Are you kidding!?! VD turned up field before Kaepernick even started moving forward!

The problem is he's in "run mode" the instant his first read is covered.

You also have to take into effect he had been pressured nearly every snap the whole game leading up to that point. It is understandable if he is skiddish and ready to run as soon as he sees a lane. Maybe if the offensive line had been playing well, he stays in the pocket longer but you can't fault a guy for running with that huge lane in front of him

What did Kurt Warrner do to improve Kap? All I heard off season was how much he improved and yet I don't see it.

Hard to show much when the line looks like crap.

Tough to say in terms of Warner. From practice videos and the like, he's definitely improved his touch on his short-area passes. Though if anything, his deep passes have gotten worse.

FYI, people keep brining up Warner. Warner did some film work with Kap but most of the time was spent working with Dennis Giles.

From the practice reports I've read over training camp is he throws with more touch and short yardage accuracy has increased and he's shown in practice to go through his progressions more frequently especially when he has trust of the pass protection.

It's hard to see it in preseason because he's thrown such few passes, under pressure over half of those pass attempts, and the pass plays didn't really feature any quick hitting passes which seemed intentional as I tend to feel the coaching staff wanted to use the preseason to test the strength of the pass protection and make adjustments from there.

We'll have to wait in see week 1 where I would imagine the coaching staff will feature more quick hitting passes to minimize the exposure of the offensive line.

I mean for the most part the passes he's thrown have been good aside from a couple it's just the issue with Kap specifically is he needs to pull the trigger quicker and I think the Geep needs to give him so nice easy throws early in a game to get him in a rhythm
