Int rate would be a curious stat to look into as on the one hand the volume of passing seems to suggest there would be more INTs but on the other hand the passing attack has steadily been more and more about getting the ball out with precision and QBs more gifted to do that getting INTs are harder despite the volume.

Pick Six rate makes sense I think because more teams are sending out passing targets which means more people downfield and less people to make a tackle if the ball does get picked. Probably CBs being faster these days also is likely a contributing factor.

The passing volume has nothing to do with it. That's a PERCENTAGE Of picks not a graph of total picks.

Are passes in the NFL getting shorter? I posted a graphic, back when we were on the hoopla, about how most quarterbacks throw most passes short. And the reason why I mention this is not only because deep passes have higher risk, but also because when you have a deep pass picked off it is more likely to not be returned for a touchdown because of the number of people there to tackle the defender. Short passes on one half of the field are going to be more likely to be returned. So fewer deep passes and more short passes would tend to lead to these results.

I think it's because QBs are now too big of p***ies to go after the guy who picked 'em off:
