Speaking of FA, Baalke did a pretty sucktastic job in that department this offseason. Dockett (I said it was a stupid signing from day 1), Bush (ditto), Pears (bleh)...

Torrey Smith gets a pass 'cause he doesn't really have a QB to throw him the ball.

(Just kidding.)

I laughed.

I didn't see the game so I am not sure how they looked, but I don't want to fall into the trap of Kaep is turning a corner and then seeing him **** the bed again. Every time I think he is getting better he lays an egg 3 weeks in a row. Did he look good or was it more the Ravens looked bad?

Both.

Kaepernick actually showed some touch and accuracy on this throws, traits which had been virtually non existent until last week. He was able to throw up some great passes to both Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith that dropped right over the receivers' shoulders and into their hands while running full stride. It was nice to see. Another nice aspect was Tiller in at RG because the pass protection looked vastly improved in comparison to previous weeks, giving Colin a semblance of a pocket to work from. (He didn't look half bad under center!)

That said, there were plenty instances of the same "Colin being Colin" issues, ie taking too long getting rid of the football, and wide open receivers that Kaep never saw because he inexplicably decided to take off running. One of his TDs (the one to Patton) was essentially a Russell Wilson=esque luck situation. Kaep had virtually given up on the play due to seeing some phantom pressure, but became trapped when he tried to scramble. Somehow in that moment of panic Kaep actually took another glance down field again right as Shareece Wright, who was covering Patton, was falling down. Kaep rifled the ball to Patton for a TD that was about as easy a completion as you'll ever get in the NFL.

And speaking of Shareece Wright, the Niners absolutely exposed his mediocrity with both of Kaepernick's TDs coming against him. Almost every noteworthy completion came at Wright's expense.

Torrey Smith gets a pass but does Baalke get a pass? If we don't have a QB to utilize Torrey, is that spending money in the right place for the GM? I'm NOT making any claim one way or another, as I've seen two big TDs and I've seen him underused.
