Then of course, there's Ellington too. But Patton has to take advantage of the fact that neither Smelter nor Ellington are getting as many snaps as he's getting.
Patton makes $675K next year. We would save $150K if we cut him in favor of DeAndrew White. Hardly worth it for the savings alone. Patton was kind of on the bubble going into this season, but I think he's in pretty good shape. White has yet to pan out, Boldin is a FA next year and virtually assured of leaving, and Simpson is going to need to get his act together if he's going to stick. Smelter will basically be a rookie next year, and it typically takes WRs awhile to adjust to the NFL.
