Ward VS Tartt... Who's a Better Safety?

Post#1 » by NinerSickness » Tue Nov 24, 2015 9:35 pm

It was brutal watching Bradley Roby have a great game on Sunday while Ward was getting burned for a TD. :noway:

Ward is not a CB. Period. He's a safety. Reid is actually looking like his old self of late, so I'm pretty sure his job is secure (for another year at least; who knows if Reid re-signs?). So who's going to be the other safety in the long run?

They like having a had hitter in the secondary, which is probably why Tartt is starting. But Ward isn't exactly the 1999 version of Merton Hanks either; dude can hit.

Whom do you like better in the long run at safety? Tartt or Ward?

Or maybe both? Maybe Reid plays next season & leaves via FA?

By the way, I had no idea Tartt & Ward were best friends & played together on the same high school team. Who knew?

Long term I like Tartt better but Ward can still have a role on the team

Tartt seems to be more the mold of a SS...

I have nothing on Ward as a S in our defense... haven't seen him at all in order to give an opinion. I know he's not the first rd pick we deserved nor needed.

So far, Tartt. The dude has looked solid as a rookie. I love the hard hit he put on Julio Jones...Ward is definitely a natural safety....As for Reid, should the Niners exercise the 5th year option this offseason? I say yes. He's been a good player for us, especially with Bethea coming off an injury and Ward still unproven as a safety in the NFL.

I think Reid should be picked up also. If Tartt finishes the season strong the 49ers could move on from Bethea.

I'm pretty sure moving on from Bethea is a given.
