If we have a chance to take Goff and we choose to go another route I'll quit.

You gonna leave a 2-week notice or just walk out with your middle finger up?
I don't think there's any way Goff will be on the board when the Niners pick unless they trade up. Goff will be a Brown next year IMO (which sucks for him).

Better than Winston and Mariotta?

Well, Mariotta is playing better than I expected; I expected Kaepernick 2.0. On the other hand, Kaepernick stated out fast too. So he may be going precisely on schedule.
Winston will be a bust IMO.

Just had a 5 TD game.
Maybe he could have one or two great seasons and flame out, like Culpepper did.

The thing is, 98% of Niner fans were convinced Kaepernick was a great QB because they simply don't know how to evaluate QB play. I was optimistic, but after the NFCCG in Seattle, I knew he'd never be a great QB because he was a mental midget. I'm not going to say a QB is either good or bad until his body of work is large enough to say so. It's too early to tell with any of the '14 or '13 QBs. It might even be too early to tell with Tannehill considering all the crap O-lines & coaching staffs he's had (alhtough the hour is getting late for that one, and I'd have to say he's in the mediocre zone).
Suffice it to say, I don't care about a crap game or a great game by Winston. I'm not even going to evaluate him for 2 more seasons. The bust moniker is a prediction and nothing else at this point.

Yes, though I was big on Winston as well.
Luck, Winston and Goff (and Carr, but a step lower) are the only QB prospects I've really liked in recent memory.

Middle finger up, right after I burn the building down.

Re: Which QB should the 49ers draft?
With what happened in Cleveland last week and today's game in Dallas, the Browns and Cowboys will probably look to draft a QB.

Yup, we better start tanking better. And think about trading Kaepernick to the Eagles and Gabbert to Dallas or Cleveland

Tony Romo is 35 as it is. The Cowboys should have drafted a QB at least a couple of years ago.
At least Jerry Jones tries to win but again, he's put himself and his son in charge of the football operations, instead of professional football people.

Re: Which QB should the 49ers draft?
I just hope the team isn't fooled in moving with Gabbert. Gabbert to me is a Shaun Hill type of QB in that he's a guy you want as your backup but just not as a long term starter and I mean that in a good way.
But I will say I would rather roll with Gabbert than draft forcing a pick at QB because it's a need. Picking the wrong guy at QB could waste 2 or more seasons sticking with a guy and hoping he devlops.

Well this may be a sign that Goff is going to declare of the draft:

FBS record 7 td first half for Paxton Lynch....I'm starting to like the guy more and more as the season progresses.

Beginning to think we shouldn't draft a QB in the 1st round.

Let me guess...Blaine Gabbert is the answer?

Blaine Gabby always played scared in JAX. He was surprisingly one of the better passers when he wasn't under pressure. It looks like he's solved those issues that plagued him when he actually was under pressure. His deep ball and Geep's playcalling are the only thing deterring him at the moment.
To be continued...

Re: Which QB should the 49ers draft?
My comparison for the top QBs in the draft
Goff - Matt Ryan with a bit of Tony Romo. Throws like Matt Ryan, but throws interceptions in the clutch like Romo. Will put up big numbers, but INTs will be something he will have to over come and learn to avoid. Strongish arm and throws a catch-able ball. Good footwork. Always readjusting his feet like Pyton Manning and Tom Brady. He can be a superstar or Jay Cutler and travel from one starting gig to another.
Lynch - He is a Tom Brady, Big Ben, and Tim Tebow all in one. Handles the offense like Tom Brady, big like Big Ben, and has a bad hitch in his throw like Tim Tebow. He is a potential hall of fame qb if he can learn how to be under center and reduce that hitch in his throw. If he can't he will be out of the NFL in 3-4 Years. Above average arm but relies more on his reads and his mind than his arm.
Cook - He has the potential to be Joe Montana or Alex Smith. What I see from him is a medium to weak arm can make most throws. But his passes seem to be located perfectly. His touch is awesome and hits receivers in stride. He is perfect for the west coast offense.
Hackenberg - He reminds me of a Ryan Mallet. Not the dumb partying stuff, but his reads and execution. He relies on his arm strength way too much. He needs to go back to school for another year. He is just too raw and makes bad reads too often to be anything other than a late round pick., He really regressed from last season.
Wentz - He is a Ryan Tannehill with a bit of Kaepernick type QB. Very tall and athletic. Started out as a WR and then moved to QB. Good arm, but he makes only one or two reads then throws or runs. He is a second round QB who needs to sit for a couple years to learn the position better. Potential is there to be a Flacco type QB.
Hogan - He is Alex Smith. Smart with his reads. Not that great on accuracy. More mobile than people think. He would be a perfect game manager who throws mainly to TEs and relies heavily on a strong run game. In our system he would be just like Smith was or like Gabbert is now, but stronger arm for deep throws. I think he is a perfect backup qb. Who can fill in when needed perfectly. I doubt he will be a pro-bowler or game changer, but he will get the ball to those pro-bowlers and game changers and in the process get wins. (I am a Stanford fan)
Jones - JaMarcus Russell without the weight problems. He can throw it deep and run, but he makes one read then throws way too much. I don't see him being mature enough to make it in the NFL. He will be out of it within a few years. He needs to stay in school for a year.
Well, this is just my opinion so take it for what its worth. I would be happy with Lynch, Cook, and then Goff in that order if we go with a day 1 Starter. Goff, Lynch, and then Cook if we plan to sit them for a year or two behind Gabbert to really learn the position like Rodgers did. Wenz and Hogan later in the draft for backups/ future starters if we stick with Gabbert or Kaepernick for a few years. I am not down on Kaepernick like some people. I feel that if we improve the offensive line, pass rush and Ilb the 49ers will be playoff bound way faster. Both lines are the most important parts of a team and both of the teams lines were down this year. With better line play on both sides of the ball this team right now is 6 and 5 or better.
