BEARS POST GAME THREAD

Post#1 » by 49er4life1979 » Sun Dec 6, 2015 10:08 pm

I guess Blaine Gabbert may have shut up a lot of his critics who said he cant throw deep with accuracy....Hats off to the kid for stepping up and delivering in the clutch....Other points: Great german suplex by Tartt on Jay Cutler, lol that was sweet...Run defense was leaky today and the lack of a pass rush continues to be a problem. The offensive line as well. What was the point of activating Kilgore if you are not going to play him? ...Too bad Vance McDonald had to leave due to concussion. Hope he passes and is back next week, same with Aaron Lynch.

I think we had to make Kilgore active because he would have been on the IR the rest of the season if he wasn't.

Cutler was definitely concussed after that hit. His arms went into doggy paddle position; clear violation by the Bears to keep him in the game.

No idea why the team can't tackle and there's no way they should have picked up those 10 yards on 3rd down to move Gould into prime position to win the game.

Cutler talked to the neurosurgeon and the people he was supposed to and passed the tests to stay in the game. He looked kind of woozy but it was the leagues magic brain doc who cleared him to come back in. It showed some heart by the team. I wouldn't say anyone had a great game both teams missed a lot of opportunities. The defense played decent considering how often the Bears had great starting field position the offense shows flashes of improvement but still too often looks like its in neutral.

That proved nothing. Smith was basically left uncovered. He sucked more than Kaepernick for most of the game. Gabbert is not a starting qb. He can't convert 3rd downs. Almost went 2 games without doing it. He misses his reads and he checks down first instead of trying to extend the plays at all. I would rather start Kaepernick or draft a new qb to groom. Maybe we can trade Gabbert to someone who was fooled by a few good plays he has had.

Checks down first? What does Kaepernick do? He sees his primary read is covered and then takes off? No sale. The league has figured out Kaepernick and he just does not get it done from the pocket and never will. I am done with him. Gabbert has done a good job going through his reads and looks poised in the pocket. I mean what does it tell you when the opposing team's players are saying that Gabbert is better? See the Honey Badger. The offensive line is still not good though as he was sacked 4 times. Give him a better line and then we can judge him. Yea he threw for only 196 yards, but he came up huge in the clutch and had zero turnovers.

Saying worse than Kaep is a stretch. He didn't run out of bounds three yards behind the line of scrimmage, He completed passess to his own team he made it threw his reads... didn't pick the right one but checkdowns for short gains are marginally better than launching it wildly out of bounds. Its pretty bad comparing a cow turd to an elephant turd and trying to justify which one is "better". Gabbert can be a stopgap and groom the new one the Niners draft. Because where Gabbert is light years ahead of Kaep is in the football intelligence game. Gabbert could be the one to mentor up the youngin whereas Kaep would just be pouting by himself on the sideline. I don't think any niners fan is brain damaged enough to think Gabbert is the answer. Though it is ironic to hear he played worse than Kaep when this game he was very Kaep like, breaking off runs and making one or two good passess...

so why can Gabbert throw a deep ball to Smith and Kap couldn't????

Gabbert is not even that good, although he is miles beyond my personal expectations, and just shows how little of QB improvement we needed from Krap in order to look respectable...

btw, thanks for ruining our top 5 chances!!! lol

I'm not a Kaepernick supporter, though I supported anyone who was playing for us when they were playing for us. However, he did have one or two deep passes to Smith that were pretty good. Let's wait until Gabbert has multiple deep ones without a bad ratio of interceptions thrown in.

Oh I believe this. I was away again this weekend and I was watching the highlights. I just feel like that play is there to be had or at least attempt to...

Gabbert has his audition down this stretch. His play will definitely impact our draft position, draft targets as well as Kaepernick's role with the team going forward.

I hate to complain about a win but man even when they win it just doesn't feel like a "win".

And worse yet it's just going to build up a false sense of confidence in the coaching staff and in Gabbert while making the draft position even worse which hurts the chances of obtaining a QB through the draft.

I will say Gabbert has grown on me but as a backup and a stopgap not as a guy you want to build around going forward which is saying a lot considering how low his status was coming from the Jags.

But the offense still has two or three good drives a game and just plain abysmal the rest of them. Even with Gabbert being an upgrade compared to Kap the team is still struggling to score points and have only been in games because the defense despite it being on the sloppy side has done a good job keeping other offenses from scoring.

To me this is a story of the defense playing better than Gabbert being an upgrade over Kap.

Rooting for Blaine Gabbert to do well. It was a very nice deep ball. That being said, it was only one pass. His other deep balls were poorly thrown. The question is whether he can consistently throw those types of passes and that remains to be seen.
