And I can just as easily say how much worse could he be once he settles into the position and teams have film reports on him again? The notion that he's automatically going to be better because he's going to have a "better OL" is a false one.

Some people are jumping the gun on Gabbert. I still say we draft a QB this year.

It's absolutely ridiculous. I mean, how many times are people gonna make this mistake? You keep Gabbert and you draft a QB. If Gabbert is the guy, you trade the QB you drafted. If Gabbert isn't, you have a QB waiting in the fold. It's a simple concept.

Quite frankly, I'm not holding my breath when it comes to Gabbert.

I guess time will tell. If he ends the season on a strong note I say he's earned the starting job going into 2016.

Watching him rush the passer this week, he didn't do a thing. everytime he rushes the passer, the olineman keeps him to the outside and lets him around around the back of the pocket. Didn'teven get close to Cutler Sunday. I don't recall him ever being able to get inside in the lineman. Might as well play Eli Harold, he can't be any worse.

Before, he was given a pass because nobody passed to him. His stock went down because he dropped the potential game-winning interception. Just kidding.

LOL. I can forgive him for that dropped pass if he could somehow get to the QB during games and not look like the invisible man.

Want to hear a lame joke? Don't care if you do, but here it goes. ILB = Invisible Linebacker (No, I don't know know nor care if he is an inner linebacker or not.)

We're all on the same page now. A fleeting moment of clarity for you Clyde, it's been awhile.

Your head has been so far up Baalke's ass I'm surprised you can tell.

Gabbert is just a good backup and nothing more.

It's just sad that the bar for this team when it comes to QB play has been set so low that fans fall in love with anyone that shows they aren't horrible and ready to anoint them QB going forward.

It's been done with Shaun Hill, JT O' Sullivan (briefly), Troy Smith (briefly), Alex Smith (which was an odd full circle moment), and the numerous late round undrafted guys that look good in the preseason but get cut and do nothing elsewhere.

Until the team has someone on that Brady/Rogers type level it should not stop looking at QB. I don't mean force a pick every year at QB in the draft until you get it right because forcing a QB pick is one of the worst things you can do but it also shouldn't look for appropriate opportunities to upgrade the talent at the QB position when it presents itself. In other words I want Baalke to pass on QB prospects because they suck not because he's thinking that the position is set because Gabbert is good enough

God only knows. I just hope it isn't another year of drafting raw/high upside players and injured IR players

I think we need to draft a qb with our first round pick if feasible, meaning one of the top 4 qbs is available to us, but I still think Gabbert can continue to improve.

OTOH, I've heard people say the QB draft class is weak, compared to last year and other years.

Last year was top heavy with Mariota and Winston but there was nothing after that.

This year isn't top heavy but there is more depth imo. Goff, Lynch, Cook, Wentz, Brissett, Allen, Hogan, etc.

Couldn't it be possible that scouts have underestimated a couple of these guys? It seems scouts often miss on evaluating college QB talent.

Then, our hope would be that all teams buy their message of these QBs being no good and we don't buy it and draft the best of the bunch and he pans out. Quick, Patterson, go tell all your GMs that these QBs are no good. Start with Cleveland and work up.
