Obviously not Harbs fault, but why aren't you in Safe Punt formation against an all out rush?

That's just their punt formation, a lot of teams in college are using that style. Had the punter just looked the ball into his hands, it wouldn't have been a problem. Had he just dove onto the ball instead of trying to pick it up, he would have at least gave the team a chance.

Kind of what I'm saying. Why not just load up on blockers instead of using your regular punt alignment?

They could've even just have him take the ball and run around and throw it out of bounds. They could've "gone for it" by leaving the offense out there and just run around for nine seconds and throw it. That's too risky, but in hindsight…

Judging by the left gunner that might have been a pass? or was he just looking ball to judge the ball off the punter's foot

Impressed with his composure since he's been uncomposed and how I think I'd be in reaction: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=13911503

Harbaugh's Staff too expensive for Jed York

Post#47 » by B-King » Mon Dec 28, 2015 6:30 pm

I guess Jed York will next go back to locking up bottled water like his father did. Everything I feared about the Yorks and Niners current status has come to light.

As a die hard fan, what am I going to do? I'll probably turn down tickets when I come into town to avoid spending any money at Levi stadium and not buy another piece of Niner gear. It won't amount to much and the Yorks are already laughing to the bank. After Balke, Tomsula and crew get separated from the team, we still have Jed there. We are just plain stuck with these bozos.

I saw a link to this on yahoo and got sucked into this. It was posted at yardbarker and story goes back to Kawakami rant. This is an old rant by Kawakami who really doesn't have anything to back it up other than his own personal feelings on the matter. I don't think this was about the money as much as it was about Jed's 10 year man crush with Tomsula. He's wanted Tomsula as HC going to back to Singletary and refuses to let him go. Once Jed chose Tomsula, coordinators did not want to come here no matter how much the 49ers tried to recruit them.

Well if Jed isn't going to come out and comment, I really don't care how much Kawakami has to back up his rant. I don't doubt the man crush aspect as Tomsula is the only HC at eye to eye level with Jed. Plus he probably makes Jed feel a lot more articulate and sophisticated.

I have to agree. And Kawakami also claims that York hired Harbaugh so that he could facilitate the stadium process. But the stadium deal was already voted on and approved in July 2010 - one year before Harbaugh came. Not apologizing for York at all, but you really have to take Kawakami's material with a grain of salt.

Yep. It isn't defending York but rather following separating substantive news from baseless ranting. Kawakami has provided some good info but he also often just rants like a teenage blogger. This whole money angle started back when Harbaugh was fired but there wasn't anything ever substantive behind it. You could easily find other reasons why York made really bad decisions.

It was obviously a clash of personalities and egos - York and Harbaugh. It is also well documented that on a couple different occasions the Niners offered Harbaugh an extension with a raise of course. And Harbaugh refused it, I guess wanting to bet on himself and then really max out. The first offer of an extension took place after the Super Bowl loss to the Ravens.

I do believe there was frustration concerning the offensive staff though. A lot of money was doled out and the offense just never was that good and steadily got worse under Harbaugh.

I think there is a money angle there but I think it's on the overrated side and I think the Yorks decisions are just more incompetence than penny pinching.

If it were money, they cut their nose to spite their face with all the money they owe Tomsula going forward to not coach. But, of course, they've done plenty of rhinoplasty by now.

Harbaugh's brother in law was buried in a Stockton jersey, so Jim Harbaugh wore a Stockton jersey on his trip to Utah: https://m.ksl.com/?sid=40242772&nid=294
