ESPN: 49ers worst franchise in major pro sports

Nice work Jed, daddy must be real proud. Maybe he will give you another billion dollar toy to destroy.

"“For a franchise with as much history and tradition as the 49ers, it’s hard to believe they’ve sunk to this level – dead last among 122 professional sports teams,” according to ESPN staff writer Nick Wagoner. “It’s the result of a lack of on-field success, the dysfunction that led to the departure of coach Jim Harbaugh (and the uninspired choice of Jim Tomsula as his replacement), and the overwhelming cost to watch it all unfold at Levi’s Stadium. They dropped 76 spots in last year’s rankings, and now, down 19 more, bottom out this year. At least now there’s nowhere to go but up.”

Worse than the 76ers?

Maybe worst fanbase, sure I'll believe that, but the 76ers have been tanking for the last half decade.

We have a great fanbase...just a terrible one at the games.

Anyways, it's just one dude's opinion. 49ers are definitely down there. Even our new stadium is a pos.

But they're making a ton of money from that stadium.

Based on revenues, the franchise would fetch a couple of billion if some tech or hedge fund mogul wanted to buy an NFL team badly enough.

It would take a few more years of poor play on the field for a lot of season ticket holders to decide they don't want to pour thousands more each year into tickets, despite already being thousands already in the hole for the SBLs.

Unless they can always sell their tickets for break-even or minimal loss to visiting team fans or something.

So the Yorks don't have to take drastic actions, like firing Jed and turning the football operations to someone from outside the family.

At least they don't have to do so for financial reasons.

Maybe after a few more years of humiliation ...
