The OL sucks, damn! Needs major upgrade in the offseason. Staley may be showing his age, nonexistent G play, and I would upgrade at C too, Kilgore is ok but we can do better. The defense looks better certainly than a year ago especially against the run, but the pass rush for some reason was pretty anemic yesterday. Solomon Thomas was getting no pressure in particular.

Hope Tomlinson gets caught up to speed cuz that's our only chance of a change on the roster.

We don't have power or true size in the DL... that's going to be a problem vs big OL....

expected more of a push for Thomas but not gonna overreact on him. Still a long seasons away plus an offseason to add big man strength

I didn't see anything yesterday that would lead me to reconsider my claim that this is a maximum 3 win team.

New season, new regime, same core issues: O-line is terrible in pass protection, WR corps is not nearly up to snuff, Defensive front gets no push, poor DB play.

Until the above core issues are rectified, it won't matter who the QB is because this team will stay in the gutter.

I have zero faith in any of Baalke's guys developing into impact players, I'm pretty skeptical that most will even develop into solid contributors.

The team needs a complete roster overhaul, and that will take time. This was always going to be a throwaway season. The bright side is the current regime has plenty of time on their side because they definitely don't currently have talent and pieces to work with.

I think there has already been quite a roster turnover and I would expect another round of purging next offseason if players like Tank and Ward fail to produce. This team is going through a major overhaul and it is just going to take some time to straighten this thing out.

Exactly...This team's cupboards are still bare. One offseason is not enough to rid the team of Trent Baalke's garbage. Its going to be a long tough road, but I think (as long as York doesnt mess it up) the 49ers ship has been righted, it was just turned so badly that its still going to take a season or two to even look like its getting back on track.

You don't put a rookie QB like Beathard into the game, who already has troubles processing what he sees, when you have guards that are playing like this. That's a good way to wreck two quarterbacks at the same time. Hoyer is who he is. He should stay in for now IMO.

If the concern is you need another body because Hoyer might not last they need to go get one off the street and go down that avenue of working on the fly to build him up in case he's needed. IMO.

The minute they officially decided to roll with two QBs and decided these were going to be the OL they were going to roll with was the minute they decided Hoyer was going to be the punching bag through pretty much all of it IMO.

Let's make one thing clear about the 49ers' quarterback situation: There is a significant gap between Hoyer and rookie backup quarterback C.J. Beathard, so there’s no reason to even be thinking along those lines at this point.

There's a significant gap between a soon-to-be 32-year old Brian Hoyer and a rookie C.J. freaking Beathard? Shocking.

Forget trying to start Beathard. He is not ready. While Hoyer's 's play yesterday wasn't great, I don't think Beathard doing much with Beedles being a turnstile at guard. His PFF score yesterday was atrocious.

Yea, I would maybe scratch Solomon 273lbs at DT on passing downs, just leave him at LDE. Going forward maybe sit Carradine and activate Lynch. That should hopefully ignite pass rush.

Sakamoto: 49ers DT DeForest Buckner receives top grade against Panthers, Carradine not far behind

I would extend Tank if you can get him at a reasonable price.

I've always thought his best fit was 4-3 and you're seeing him be productive in it.

This is probably the last year for Tank to make it on this team. Nice that he is off to a good start. Ridiculous what Baalke did with him
