Report that Niners claimed Takk McKinley off waivers. Interesting add. He's something a of a head case, but he's a local guy (Oakland) who might improve with a return to home. Though that could cut the other way, too, if he starts hanging out with bad influences. He's got some talent, but hasn't put it together to date. Worthwhile risk on a young guy with some upside as a pass rusher if he can get his head on straight, but still a longshot.

From a physical tools standpoint, he's undersized (6'2", 250ish at the combine), but has long arms (34 3/4") and some speed, explosiveness, and strength (95% 40, 85% broad jump, 55% in bench is solid for his size and arm length). He was awful in the change of direction drills, though (15% three-cone, 11% short shuttle). Those drills are something you typically need to practice to master vs. the 40 and jumps (not saying those events have nothing to do with technique, etc., but not nearly as much), so that could be more a product of lack of work than actual ability, but hard to say.

Do you know how many countless times I’ve heard an organization/franchise say they’re going to keep a player then the offseason or middle of the season comes around & they end up trading them or letting them go..

I agree with Crimson here.

Santa Clara County has banned all contact sports for much of December.

49ers have home games scheduled Dec 7 and 14.

Their backup plan is to play at the Cardinals stadium, as the Cards are on the road those days.

Richard Sherman, Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, and Trent Williams have been added to the active roster for tomorrow's game, although Williams is listed as questionable since he did not practice all week. Unfortunately, DJ Jones and Brandon Aiyuk are still on the reserve/COVID list.

Mullens playing pretty poorly today. Though Goff looks worse. Seems like Saleh is all the way inside his head.

And this Rams OL is BAAAAAD. If our guys are beating them up, they're in trouble.

Well Mullens is a backup, and he's forced up some bad passes under pressure but only one int.

The Rams are generating good pass pressure with 4 man rush so he need pass accuracy, which isn't his forte.

I think the Rams OL, particularly their unproven linemen, have played better than last year, or else they wounding be 7-3. But yeah surprising the 49ers are able to get good pressure.

49ers sure seem to play well against Goff. He's shown no playmaking ability under pressure or when he gets out of the pocket.

All the great footwork and processing that he supposedly had at Cal, boy the people who touted him got it wrong.

Maybe the 49ers fan in him unconsciously helps the 49ers win. :D

It's unclear that we've even touched Donald during a pass rush today.

McGlinchey, looking like a bust. I don't see an extension for him so they may have to draft a couple of tackles.

It's gonna be so nice to have Deebo, Aiyuk, and Kittle on the field together. If it ever happens. Should open up some run lanes for Mostert, too.

We're really inhibiting our chances of getting an impact player.

I said to my dad this week that I'd feel great about the Niners' chances, even at 4-6, if they were fully healthy. Just a screwy year, and healthy, they're the most talented team in the NFC IMO. Even with only like three major injuries, they're among the best. But losing Garoppolo (even though I don't care for him much), Kittle, Bosa, Ford, Tartt (even though I don't think there's much drop-off if any with Moore in there instead), it's just too much to come back from.

Weird that the Rams can't beat us, the Hawks can't beat the Rams, and we can't beat the Hawks.

Can't see him getting the fifth-year option picked up at this point. Maybe they don't do that but still try to bring him back on the cheap.

Some fans want the 49ers to pick a QB high in the draft but they should see what’s available at CB and outside rushers.

Defense could be dominant with those positions shored up and Bosa coming back fully healthy
.
Sherman still can play but I can envision him being injured more and he’s going to want more money than he’s worth at this point.

I think they probably let Sherman go - and hopefully can reap a nice comp pick in return. I would try to keep Verrett and Mosely, and add a couple other guys in the offseason.

QB remains a huge need. I think it's pretty clear that Garoppolo is not the long-term solution. But they can't force it. Even with some FA departures next year, this team can be a SB contender when even mostly healthy. The mystical Ford injury is driving me a little crazy. If he could give us quality pass rush on even 1/3 of the defensive snaps, it would be game-changing for this team. Maybe even season-changing. Haven't heard any updates on him in weeks, though, and am not expecting him to play again this season. Can't believe we restructured him this offseason.

Sherman has to stay, it’s a must.. Verrett is great but I don’t care for Mosley, he’s too small sorry. I gave him a pass for getting ate up by DK Metcalf coz he’s huge but to get torched by Davante Adams?? No sir ski, Uncle Sherm didn’t get torched by either of them.
