Re: 2017 NFL DRAFT Thread
It wasn’t all necessarily his fault.
The entire Iowa offense faced issues last season. The offensive line struggled in pass protection early in the season. Wide receivers failed to create separation after top target Matt VandeBerg broke his left foot in September. The passing game sputtered as a result with Beathard often handcuffed in his ability to make plays. His pocket presence was an issue, at times, which didn’t help him make plays in a tough situation.
Also, Beathard suffered a sprained left knee during pre-season camp. The injury limited his ability to scramble throughout the season. A hamstring injury suffered in the Outback Bowl, which he re-aggravated at the Senior Bowl, kept him from running at the NFL combine.

Obviously the league doesn't feel the same way about those players as this message board does. Two days down and they remain on the board

So he was drafted based off his play from two years ago. Lot of **** went wrong last season. OK. I'll let this play out Kyle.

True but stil Beathard at best is talked about as 5 or 6th round. Dobbs, Peterman, Kaaya, Kelly Torgenson all would have been better picks by a large margin... Especially when you add in... using 2 draft picks to trade up for him.

What's your beef with Lynch, Sick?
He sucks large amounts of a** at drafting players. What a total f*** up.

I'd trade the Niners' draft for the Ravens' draft straight up.

Because we have someone who has no idea what he's doing (Jed) who hired someone who has even less of an idea what he's doing (Lynch).
The Niners' are cursed at GM.

I get plenty of QBs wrong but I'm having a hard time seeing the smallest bit of upside with it. I guess they have a far different view on what his ceiling can be because I don't think it's very high and I think a TON has to happen for him to hit that ceiling.
I'm mostly arguing what's in his make up. That offense was a disaster on multiple levels for him but I couldn't stand seeing what that make up translated to when the bullets were coming at him on the field.
It's so much worse than the Alex Smith intermediate/down the field number issues. It's in that vicinity but it's so much worse than that. He's a broken QB on so many levels that even if you fix him, you have a flawed QB that needs SO much else around him just to have him manage a situation IMO.
It's just yet another peg that still makes me not like his trajectory as a coach or innovator of offense. We'll see, though. Like everything else I have to give Shanahan time on this to prove me wrong.

Hmmm I might but other than Beathard Lynch has straight up rocked this Draft. And extr second and third for next year. Two perennial pro bowlers in Tomas and Foster and a Nice Corner in round three... He has rocked this draft according to virtually every anylyst out there. I understand your frustration because He didn't draft Trubisky... but Honestly I am happy he didn't blow the second overall on a 1 year starter who looks like something between Mark Sanchez and Ryan Tannehill. There is not a QB in this draft I would have taken in the first round. At best they look like they have the ceiling of average starter but most look like quality backups. Sam Darnold next year.
