Re: 2021 49ers offseason
Great news on Verrett. Not risky or longterm. If he has another strong season, either he returns on a longterm deal or maybe he leaves and we get a high comp pick for him. CB still something of a need, but it's looking a lot better than it was just a couple days ago. Slot CB is really deep, and generally an undervalued position, so we actually have the opportunity to upgrade or at least stay about the same there with a pretty reasonable contract.

Hadn't noticed the price tag. Even better. That's very reasonable for a guy - granted with injury issues - who played extremely well last year.

Re: 2021 49ers offseason
I agree with everybody on here, regarding Juice and Verrett.
The Juice deal, is good in the sense that its back loaded, so the lower cap #'s the first couple seasons obviously help. By year 3, the cap very well could be back on the rise or at the very least static. The lower cap #'s also coincide with the team's current window. Hopefully, that window stays open for several years.
I couldn't be happier with the Verrett deal. Its not a cap crushing 1 year deal, and if Verrett continues to play well I would have no qualms with giving him a fair extension this time next year when the cap could bounce back up. This is really a great signing for the team.
I'm really liking the start to the offseason so far, next up is obviously seeing what happens with Williams. If he returns on a reasonable deal, not only does it obviously help the team's outlook but it also opens up more options in the draft. With Verrett and Williams back in the fold, CB and OT wouldn't be as big of holes/concerns as they were just 2 days ago.

Its certainly possible that Richburg is weighing retirement for his own philosophical reasons, but man this appears to be yet another example of the inadequacies of the medical/training staff.
The amount of setbacks/longer than expected recoveries 49er players have while rehabbing injuries is alarming. That's to say nothing of the plethora of new injuries that occurred pretty much every game.

Word is Niners are making a push for Corey Linsley. If that's the case, Trent Williams is probably gone.

Minutes after you post it, he agrees to a deal with the Chargers.

49ers have an agreement with Rams OLB Samson Ebukam. Ebukam likely moves to DE for the 49ers.

Totally thought you meant Trent Williams signed with the Chargers. Of the two, I'd rather have Williams. We shall see....

Re: 2021 49ers offseason
My guess is that this probably means the end of the Dee Ford tenure with the 49ers.
2 years, $12M for Ebukam, incentives that can reach $13.5M.

I don't think we save anything by cutting him. Just keep on the roster on the DLGS Warriors 1 wrote:My guess is that this probably means the end of the Dee Ford tenure with the 49ers.

Re: 2021 49ers offseason
Linsley is a center. So I would think the interest in him was to replace Richburg/Garland

Ugh, don't like that signing.

I think they use the post-June 1 cut on Ford. On June 2, 15M pops free and the dead money would be around 2M each for 2021 and 2022. They could spend majority of the cap now and use the Ford money on draft class/extensions.

Of course, just as I post that, Ford and the 49ers agree to a 2 year, $24M restructure.

Re: 2021 49ers offseason
Ebukam is an interesting pickup. He's been only okay - and he's being paid that way - but he has elite measurables when it comes to explosiveness. Let's hope Kocurek can get the most out of him.
